One day COVID’s gonna be over and when it is, New Orleans will still be New Orleans

I guess folks can start planning events in Jefferson Parish, but that’s just not the same
Jefferson needs to put a full-court press on Orleans while the metro area still surpasses Mobile in any way. Reverse course on Fat City and allow it not only to return to a 24-hour trashfest, but expand. Raze Lakeside Mall and build an arena for the Pelicans there. Cherry-pick commercial enterprises from the CBD, along with some Mardi Gras krewes and one of the festivals.
Everything is in place in Jefferson except the attitude. There's no reason that place should play second fiddle to Orleans.

It'd be badass if they started building high rises on the west bank, from a skyline perspective but it'll never happen. Its sad because it seems Nola was doing so well prior to covid.

Despite all the shite posting about Nola, the city before Covid was better than it had been in 35 years and tourism and real estate was booming.
This is true but it wasn’t COVID. It was LaToya all the way. When she started the selective reassessments and renaming streets it started the turn. COVID was just the final nail. I was just about to pull the trigger on a $500k condo in the Warehouse District late 2019 and got delayed because of the sale of my house in BR. Then the reassessments came and taxes TRIPLED. I decided to hold off for a bit. Thank god for that. I can’t imagine being stuck there now.
Living in the City at this point in my life has been me end goal for as long as I can remember. I am now reassessing and will probably build on the NorthShore. Congrats LaToya. You chased off a tax payer to cater to your Taker voters.

Why can't the dem mayor fix it?
Thats the most arse backward logic I've EVER read on here

The most annoying part is that the restaurant owners who support civil unrest and lockdowns seems to be the ones still doing the best due to their already existing popularity.

Telawork might help NOLA, IMO.
Why would you move to NOLA for remote work? If you have a family and are looking for a place to move, safety, cost of living, education system, weather, and internet infrastructure are going to be at the top of your list. NOLA doesn’t really check off any of those. Maybe cost of living relative to some locations.
I’m looking for a suburb or small town with good schools, fiber internet, and decent weather.
Or BFE with SpaceX Starlink.

New Orleans is a death trap for young & middle aged families who can't afford $20k a year per child for private school.
The city doesn't have $200-400k a year corporate jobs unless you are a doctor, lawyer or engineer.
It's why most of the wealthy young families there are 3rd or 4th generation family business owners.
The rest of the city is subsidized by tourism. With that having been destroyed by Da Mayor, it might end up a shell of its former self.
It's a fun city if you're young without kids, or an empty nester, or make $500k a year or more and have kids.

Just for clarification; you can get a great private school education for $9,000 a year.
No need to exaggerate with that $20k number
No need to exaggerate with that $20k number

There are some moderately priced Catholic schools, but not everyone is Catholic.
I think the Newmans and Country Days now are inching towards $30,000 a year.

Are you under the impression that only Catholics go to Catholic schools?

Of course the best schools are that much, but Jesuit, Brother Martin, MCA, Dominican, etc are all pretty damn good and better than any non magnet or charter schools in the state.
And you can test in to Ben Franklin or Lusher and have no tuition I’d that is your thing

Are you under the impression that everyone wants to attend a Catholic school simply because it's more affordable?
Ben Franklin is an excellent school IF you can get in.
