You’re missing the point.
It’s more likely that if Smith was on track to win an Oscar and nothing was “staged” he wouldn’t rock the boat and put his reputation on the line before the award was even presented.
The fact that he “let his emotion interfere” before the possibility of taking home his (first) Oscar tells me that there was something planned here.

They weren't making a movie. Staged events in this style are almost always kept light hearted, especially when big names are involved. Everyone gets a laugh, and it is soon made obvious that it was staged if it wasn't already obvious.

There’s a certain group of people here that “know the truth” about everything, i.e. nothing is as it seems! Their brains are fried garbage. I love a good conspiracy theory, but it’s the posturing as if they really know something we don’t that makes them worthy of shitting on.

Also love how you can tell it's real because an OSCAR WINNING ACTOR displayed what appeared to be real emotion during said bit. Impossible for a hollywood lifer to display emotions that may not be genuine.

So then you think it's likely that he ok'd a bald joke about his wife for a bit that makes him look like an unhinged puss in the end? Anything is possible in Hollywood, but I don't see that being that likely.
The whole thing was weird/awkward either way.
