Can we also point out the fact that this "Best actor" Oscar was a flop that lost $20 million?

There are people who believe everything is staged, everything. It's their hobby.

So Will Smith assaulting someone at the end of a show no one cares about is going to benefit which of the people staging it? Barely anyone even knew about it until this morning.

yeah idk, doesn't make any legit sense.
forgot about this dig earlier in the show:
I think it all added up and will smith finally lost it.
forgot about this dig earlier in the show:

It probably didn’t help that the couple had been the butt of a joke earlier in the night, when co-host and single woman Regina Hall was attempting to get single men onstage. She said to Smith, who has spoken about a period of non-monogamy in his relationship with his wife: “You’re married, but you know what? You’re on the list, and it looks like Jada approved you, so you get on up here!”
I think it all added up and will smith finally lost it.

Has he started talking down to everyone like they’re preschoolers yet?

It really doesn't.
Oscars easily lose their current crowd if it gets out that they staged this. And it would take enough people involved to make it happen that it would leak after the fact if it was.
Chris Rock agreeing to this seems to be the most suspect. And with a guy that he doesn't even have a good relationship with. Why would he want to pump up Will Smith? There's literally no gain for him.
And Smith gains far more from just winning his Oscar and the hoopla surrounding it since it involves the Williams sisters.

Its for show. Smith knew Rock read a scripted line, he knew Rock didn't make it up so there was no reason to take it out on Rock
It was for show.
What did they gain? I can only think of loses for Will Smith, and as for Chris Rock, he’d be nicknamed Juicy Smolliétt for staging this bullshite, and only Chapelle was more critical of him when it came to that bullshite. It’d just be idiocy for Rock and the Williams sisters would lose their fricking shite (rightly) if this were planned in advance, although I do expect Smith will have to apologize to them over the next few weeks.

And a whole lot of them automatically believed that it was impossible for a room full of actors to do something that was staged.
Yes, even some of the same people who have spent years believing Pizza Gate and adrenachrome conspiracies.

I mean, I get that thought process, but this being staged would make no sense at all

He was moments from winning Best Actor (and it supposedly wasn't a surprise) so him doing this as a bit or for publicity makes zero sense.

Chris Rock doesnt have anything to gain from this
He was there to present so I can see a world where he gets talked into doing a bit but he would have had a line ready to go, if nothing else to let everyone know it was a bit. He's not Andy Kaufman.

This doesn't seem like something that's their bag but even if they were desperate enough to manufacture some controversy, well mission accomplished. Why not let everyone in on it instead of letting Will Smith (and to a lesser extent Chris Rock) eat shite after he was presumably a stand up guy and made himself look like a loon just to benefit your show?

I just don't see what either of them have to gain from it by agreeing to do such a stunt. Yeah you get some publicity, but for Smith, he comes off looking really, really bad. Now not only is he a cuckold, but he couldn't knock out - or even knock down - a much smaller guy with an open-handed slap. How does he benefit in any way?
Chris Rock on the other hand looks like Billy Badass - ate the slap and kept right on going, without so much as batting an eye.

Or, Hollywood does stunts and has been known to stir up controversy since it's literal inception, and anyone trusting anything Hollywood and the mainstream media puts out in 2022 as truth and gospel needs to reexamine the last 5 years.
Questioning a bunch of lying assholes in which an entire industry is based on is not a "special kind of stupid"
Again: what’s in it for them? The only thing y’all have been able to come up with was for Oscar ratings (if they hired me or any other non-SJW to direct the Oscars I guarantee you could easily double the ratings) or attention, which neither of them need. The simplest answer is that Will Smith is a deranged narcissist who snapped and assaulted Rock for making a joke about his wife’s medical condition.

The same people immediately, without question, buying into the actions of a room full of actors are the same people who refuse to believe a word that the media tells them.
It isn't really that I think it was staged or not, I really don't care, I just find it hilarious how quickly people bought in and how unwilling they seem to even entertain the chance that it was staged.
Is it possible that this whole thing was staged. Sure, that is possible. But for me, it comes down to which scenario is more likely:
1. Will Smith lost his shite and did something incredibly stupid over somebody he's not cool with, making jokes about his wife where his wife was visibly upset
or
2. The Academy Awards concocted this scheme in order to raise ratings, where they paid off multiple big name A-list celebrities,(Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Chris Rock Tyler Perry) and who knows how many other people, to participate in a staged scenario where Chris was literally smacked in the face, Will let off multiple F-bombs that had to be bleeped out, and they continued the charade off camera once the actual event was on commercial. Not only that, the Academy Awards even got the LAPD involved in the charade as well.
The 2nd scenario is technically possible, but it just doesnt seem very likely imo.

And again, I'm trying to imagine Tyler Perry and Denzel being perfectly OK with the Oscars utilizing a scene with two Black men fighting as a mechanism to gain viewers.
Super woke arse Tyler Perry, people. Come on.

If it was staged, it will never happen again.
They can forget about convincing Meryl Streep to headbutt Jessica Chastain next year after she saw how the Oscars just cut Will Smith loose and let him twist in the wind after this year's "bit".

No, you desperately want it to be false. He wouldn’t do this on the night of his likely first Oscar. This isn’t the MTV Music Awards, it’s a fricking Oscar. The simplest answer is he snapped on Rock.
