Driving an EV is just the liberal white woman’s vehicular equivalent of wearing a mask. It’s a way of showing her superior compassion and intellect without actually accomplishing anything.

new law that said the power companies have to do all of these different htings to ensure grid continuity, and then right before it passed Abbott put in an exemption of those rules for existing power companies meaning only new companies actually have to beef up their infrastructure which makes it more expensive to invest. Less than a month later the Texas power companies donated a million dollars to his campaign

Fwiw, these look like the Tesla Ubers.
I noted that a few pages back.
Hertz has a program with either Uber/Lyft where they rent to the drivers for something stupid like $1200 a month.
There are a lot of the drivers doing this, but it's insane how many hours they must be putting in during the summer to make much money at all.
They do get preferred status for new pick ups at the airport and such, so that is a little help.

Why did they all gather in that location?
Not infrastructure to support them

Seems they are always the ones at the Tesla branded chargers. Must have some sort of deal with the rental/infrastructure to entice them to charge there rather than nearby open chargers.

Just bumping to make sure Korkstand sees this when he finally wakes up. I would hate for him to miss an EV thread.

Imagine this nonsense with a hurricane evacuation.
my guy, filling up your gas tank in preparation for a hurricane evacuation is many times a 2-3 hour affair and that's IF there is gas at the stations near you.
Having an EV (with at home charging) is indisputably superior to ICE in a hurricane evac situation.

He posted on the first page.

We have two charging stations in my town that’s in BFE, in a parish with probably less than 100 in the entire Parish. I know that you have to pay for a charge, but what tax dollars this come from to build and maintain them?
2 recently installed in Franklinton, LA. There's probably not an electric vehicle within 25 miles

Actually Hertz has a pretty nice lease for people who Uber so many times a week. That charging station is always busy. Asked someone about it once and they told me about the lease.

The AC comes on automatically when the car is off to keep the inside temp cool enough to protect the electronics from over heating. A hot as it is, it probably runs all day, grinding the batteries down even when they’re parked
The misinformation about Teslas and the OT...

I was wondering something. If you work for uber/lyft with your own car, do you have to have commercial car insurance?

quote:Seriously, they gave up some number likely in the 1000s of revenue because they didn't understand how a Tesla works. But it's the EV's fault!!!
Should have turned off cabin temp protection. Should have got off the $500 for a 240v charger. Should have flipped through the manual. It's a really simple process to charge a Tesla, millions of people do it. What kind of shoddy dealership were you working at?

Not even trying to be ugly here but this is the frustrating part of these threads that are frustrating. A simple ev charging map search would have prevented this post.
I see 2 supercharger locations in Nola. This is actually one of the reasons I’ve been hesitant to get a Tesla. The infrastructure just isn’t there yet.

How do people have time for this? That looks like a several hour process. No way I could carve 3 or 4 hours out of my busy day to charge my car.
quote:I've taken 4 or 5 road trips in my Tesla, I've waited a grand total of 0 seconds for a charge stall.
Definitely wouldn’t want to do it on a road trip or family vacation.

Imagine this nonsense with a hurricane evacuation.
An EV can get a "full tank" from the comfort of your own home, while your ICE vehicle has to deal with the riff raff and lines to get gas at a gas station.
