That's not too bad considering you're under a Hurricane Warning.

I grew up in the Midwest, so maybe I just don’t know what hurricanes are like, but I would have expected more rain and wind and less ice.

It is Sunday and we're having a Winter storm that was forecast for days, yet frickers are out sliding around all over the place in the Carolinas

It’s yankees that know how to drive in snow back home. But they cannot grasp the freezing rain caveat.*

*freezing rain is not sleet btw.

Ballantyne/wax/wedd/dilw is chock full of them.

Wow....

NEW: Haywood County Emergency Services tells me there’s an ongoing rescue for someone who camped last night in the Black Balsam/Ivestor Gap area.

Rescue Crews have made it to the trail head parking lot. They believe the hiker may have some cold related injuries. @WLOS_13

Rescue underway high in the Balsams this afternoon. That area is likely approaching 20" of snow with temps in the teens and winds gusting to 70 mph... Not a good place to be in trouble #avlnews

Yeah, I just don't get it. If you make that decision with these conditions, you have to be over-prepared. Because if something goes wrong, you're likely on your own.

Ppl continue to not be intelligent

And at the end of all of this the media and lots of Mets themselves will blame the met community/NWS for them not doing a good enough job and needing to do better when the harsh reality is a lot of people are just too fricking stupid to be helped

The guy that runs The Outdoor Gear Review YouTube channel lives in that area and is always “testing” gear for his channel in weather like this. I wonder if it’s him.

ETA:

It’s not him

We have had a good bit of heavy snow but the coldest its been has been 32.9 at my house and staying 33 something most of the day so it’s had a bit of time accumulating. Seems to be done now and we might have an inch on the ground in spots. Very windy

That said a mile this way or a mile that way and it changes greatly. For instance I think Corinth, MS has at least 4 inches. 10 miles north of my house literally has nothing. 10 miles west and it looks like at least 6 inches maybe more and the roads look terrible. Lots of downed trees. Not sure I remember an event with such a spread in results over such a small area

About 2-8 inches of snow around eastern Ohio today. Level 1 and 2 snow emergencies for travel here. First big snow fall in the state of the season.

First "plowable" snow of this winter. Woke up to a foot of snow, at 6am EST, and it will continue to snow until 10ish. At that time the snow blower get cranked up and walks, driveway cleared. Damn I hate winter up here. No worries though, only 4 more months 'till the weather gets nice.
