This. My first ride was a single cab Tacoma pre runner, the back end was way too light. Tires would spin when barely depressing the gas pedal from stop, if it was remotely wet.

A lot of them do have good crash ratings. But one downside is having a full sized SUV means he can pile as many as 6 or 7 other teens in there with him. That in and of itself leads to a lot of wrecks. It's best to limit a teen driver to no more than one or two passengers.
