A roommate from college had one … they are a death trap … he lost control, flipped it and end upside down in afoot of water and drowned. I rode in it many times - noisy as hell as I recall overall just a dose of the clap

When we were in grade school a friend's family had one..The Pacer was the 3rd car for the maid...We didn't have a license and would "steal" it and go for rides at night. We ragged the crap out of that thing and it took the punishment.

my cousin had one, it was goofy looking but ran great drove great, got great gas mileage, and best of all had as much interior room as a mini van
it was the yellow one with brown and puke green interior just like the pictures above but his had a center console with floor tee shifter

My Dad had a 1959 Bel Air when I was a kid; that video brought back memories. Too bad they destroyed that beautiful old car.

Depends. What will it cost to tint the windows on that thing?

I flipped a 1976 ford pinto and it didn’t explode......

Don't worry, when they sold them new, they'd thrown in a lifetime supply of sunscreen.

Not about the Pacers, but its cousin, the Gremlin. This is where I stole the sunscreen joke from. It is an interesting episode:
Jay's Garage with Jeff Dunham's AMC Gremlins

My mom had one, same year, color was metallic brown or tan. It was a POS.
So much glass, the A/C couldn’t keep up.

Seems your roommate was the problem.

I DID drive one in college. It was brown & awesome until a Bloody Mary was spilled between the seats. Then it was not so awesome.

The funniest thing about this (to me) is that all the TJ, YJ and CJ owners always talk shite to the JK owners about how they have a minivan engine instead of the i6. My retort is usually a picture of the pacer and/or gremlin.

Oh it's a death trap....but it's infinitely safer than the Ford Pinto from the same era.
The gas tank was placed in the crush zone of the pinto. Wtf

I'd cover the back seat with a Mexican blanket, hang dingle balls around the windows, and drive the shite out of it.

Cousin had one that was painted camo and was seen a lot at UNO back around the early 90s. It had been a "family car" that had been "gifted" to quite a few inept drivers in the family. It miraculously made them somehow wreck-free while driving it. This thing just would not die.
It was too ugly to sell. This was back in the late 80s early 90s. No one would buy it but a desperate person in need of wheels would accept the gift.
Thats how we rolled back in the day. Obvious future ballers in the making.

ford had a problem with gas tank placement back then... heard stuff about hitting the mustang from behind and popping the gas tank up from the trunk... it would rupture and throw gas on backseat and burned some people... if you buy a redone one now i think they add more straps over the tank...????
at least that was the sales pitch i got when looking at one a while back.. idk if true???
