Oil company experts (other than BP)

At this stage wouldn't it be wise to bring in the top dogs from other large oil companies like Exxon to help figure out how to end this thing? I mean, hell, the feds are bringing in freaking James Cameron to come up with ideas (which is a laughable joke - and if Bush were president this would be really made a lot of fun of, but anyway....).
Or are those guys staying as far out of this as possible due to the legal ramifications of getting voluntarily involved?

There are enough chiefs in this pow wow. We need indians. It is the guys tht are actually in the field that can make the difference. WE need good grunts.

I just wonder how much input they are giving, and if any of their input is being used/considered.

BoudinJoe, taking from your avatar...someone needs to figure out how to drink this large and growing milkshake.
Someone call this guy:
J/K but seriously, I don't care if they're execs, grunts, or whatever. They should be doing an Armageddon (movie) style search, pulling out all the stops. I don't think they are there yet.

I doubt there would be much trust in that relationship.

Everyone has a want tfor this thing to stop leaking. Exxon, Shell, Chevron, etc have all rendered help. James Cameron is wery well versed in and has actually pioneered several techniques in underwater robotics and photography/filming..........Sorry, only an idiot would laugh at him having something usefull to add.

This is bad for the entire industry. If they felt BP wasn't doing what was needed, all they would have to do is speak up and BP would be forced to do it.
This is a hard problem and no one has the solution. Why do you think they got this giant suggestion box thing going? None of this stuff worked for Ixtoc, but maybe we'll get lucky.

I can't find the link, but the BP presentation from last week had a picture of their "war room" it was filled with hundreds of people grouped by "company" as in not BP, with signs over the group indicating what aspect of the porblem they are working on. Because of the lack of media coverage, the general public has no idea about enormous amount of talent being directed at fixing this.

Don't remind me. How long did Ixtoc flow for? 9 months? They may just have to contain this and produce it for a while.

Why is this information so hard for most people to figure out? I have read way to many post in the last two days about people making fun of him, yet none of them seem to have a clue that he has some actual technical knowledge that can help.

They have been in on this from the start....remember this crude (HLS) is bought by many companies. The larger plants run 6-8 diff. crudes a day. Everyone has a part in this thing.

If anyone thinks that there is a top head of an oil company on this planet that isn't helping BP, then your are fools.
My friend that works for an international Oil Company in Houston says EVERYONE is involved in trying to help this. ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, etc...etc... etc...
People can't fathom the amount of intelligence that is working to solve this problem. Every engineering genius with the IQ's of Einstein is trying to figure out a way to stop this shite.

That "War Room" headquarters in Robert is a Shell facility and was offered to them the day after the DWH blew up. Everyone has a vested interest in ending this thing as quickly as possible, though I can certainly understand wanting to keep a low profile. Nobody wants to take BP's place as the face of this disaster
