The DWH explosion/spill has laid bare how ineffective government is in responding to a crisis?

True.

That's not to alleviate BP of blame or responsibility for this accident. It appears there's plenty of blame to go around.

Government has gotten in the way of clean up. Had the Federal government said, hey look we are going on vacation. We will all be out of town. Do whatever you think needs to be done. Then the oil would possibly never have even reached the coast anywhere.

What truly amazes me though is that some people are surprised that this is the way things work!!! Doesn't anyone remember the Katrina?

Most were well aware of this prior to DWH accident.

False.

The DWH incident was not a crisis.

It was a mistake by a private company, and that company shirked it responsibility and the government had to come in and help.

Bw the US government and BP, I'd say the government is doing 1000% better work.

Correct. The DWH incident was a tragic accident. BP and the MMS are largely responsible.

The resulting oil slick is a crisis. The govt is almost solely to blame for the growth and mismanagement of this crisis. Obviously BP is liable for damages... but the govt's inaction and ineptness is responsible for the scale of this crisis.

Got any proof if that?
All I can tell is the gov. is good at holding things up by wanting studies and permits issued, etc. They are pretty good at holding press conferences though.

I have an idea: Let's turn over control over our (and our kids') personal health over to these guys. Yeah, that's a good idea...
