Sucks, because I thought his plan was to represent Sweden the first time, but switch to USA for the next Olympics.
Guess that's never going to happen?

Sweden is actually probably covering some of his travel/training costs unlike the states. He also doesn’t have to worry about trials there.

Why wouldn’t it be Sweden?

You can't redeclare your national team representation once you've picked your senior team.

Didn't he get engaged to some Swedish smokeshow?
Posted on 7/26/24 at 11:34 am to nicholastiger
He's a massive star in Sweden. A legit celebrity in a way he would never be in the US.

Khalid Khannouchi laughs at you.

I still imagine him speaking Swedish with a Cajun accent
Probably wouldn't happen but it would be a hoot to have Hoda interview him on the Today show...
"World champion Swedish polevaluter from Lafayette, LA..."

I mean a gold medal winner is a pretty big star with the right marketing.
I’m curious what his income is in comparison? Sure he is a rockstar basically in Sweden, but it’s a whopping 10 million people population….
ETA: for example, I’d assume he could sign a pretty hefty shoe company deal? Does he have that anyway?

The dude sucked up US taxpayer resources to learn and train at a state institution and then bailed on our country because he got scared he would mess up and not qualify.
He chose the easy route to be guaranteed a spot for Sweden.
If Mondo went to tamu y’all would be saying the same thing.

He has a hard time practicing Swedish because they prefer to speak English to him, that’s probably why
