Walther P22 - friend has one of these and he loves it. I've not shot it

One of my son in laws has a Walther. His is an older model. It felt good in the hand, handled nicely, was reasonably accurate and handled all ammo types well. The only thing I didn't like was the safety. It operated opposite of the conventional style like a 1911. In other words, you swiped dthe lever UP to disengage the safety. Looking at the pic on page 2, it looks like they may have "Americanized" the safety. OTOH, from the same pic, the safety is still at an odd angle. Compare the Walther to the S&W in the next pic.

Ruger Mark IV. I like the 22/45 Lite variant but there’s a bunch of cool variants.

There’s other cool and fun 22 plinking pistols but the one I mentioned is the best.

The Mark IV is the easiest to clean (way easier than Mark III) and a Mark V doesn’t exist.

I had a Ruger Mark II for years. Pain to disassemble for cleaning. I bought it used for $125 and they gave me $125 on trade. I got the Taurus TX22 and I love it.

As stated, the most popular recommendations are the Ruger and the browning.

An advantage these two have is you can get cheap speed loaders for their mags from amazon to help you do more shooting and less loading.

S&W M&P .22 - I have one and it's a wonderful little gun that accepts a silencer and will eat any ammo you put through it. Great little pistol.

Holosun 507k or Sig Romeo x-compact

I think Holosun makes both of them.

When this thread started and saw Mark V, I immediately googled and said "oh a new one has come out" to be disappointed

Anyone off the top of their head know the differences in the Browning Buckmark UFX, URX, Standard and UDX?

Ruger mark IV 22/45 lite. Great fun to shoot and very easy to disassemble. Only issue I’ve had is it will not cycle subsonic 22 ammo reliably with a suppressor. Cycles standard 22 ammo just fine with the suppressor. Without the can it cycles all of it just fine.

Have a Ruger Mark II, Buckmark with a buttstock and Sig 322. Have had the Ruger for 35+ years and it only has issues when it gets really dirty. Same with the Buckmark. Only issue with the 322 is it doesn’t seem to like a full 20 rounds in the magazine. I usually put 18 and haven’t had issues. Shoots, CCI, Norma, Aguila, just fine.

All that have been mentioned will do good for you. If you can, shoot them first and see what feels good for you.

Scratch the Sig P322 until Sig can develop mags that feed properly. Mine is a great feeling and shooting 22 but that’s before it misfeeds every 3rd or 4th round. It’s the semi doubled stack mag, that if it isn’t loaded perfectly it will misfire. The smaller 10 round mags do wok more consistently but the selling point was a larger capacity 22 pistol.

I like my Walther P22. Fun little gun to shoot. It was a bit selective with ammo when I first got it, but now that its broken in, its much less selective.

S&W model 41 for a semi auto or a 617 for a revolver. These are the only way to fly.

Poor sweet summer child. If only you knew…..

Yes I have both of those, I don’t think a .22 pistol has been listed in this thread that I don’t have, to be honest. Except the Taurus. F Taurus.

617 for the win. I have a buckmark but I grab that revolver first.
