Most curious about how I register them. Obviously he's not here to say I sold these guns to this guy and I imagine there's more than just saying "these belong to me now"
God, these communists have conditioned the American people to be loyal subjects.
Settle down skippy, the man is asking a question bout something he knows very little about to avoid violating any laws. Rather than being snarky, simply educate the man.

Thank you, appreciate all the help
I've never registered a gun in my life. But they were all purchased from a FFL so I figured it wouldn't be hard to find me if needed. Taking possession of a couple dozen seemed like a different scenario

Like a lot others have said.
Drive over and get em.
Visit with your mom. Give her some love.
My dad just passed and my mom's been gone now almost 14 years. Love on her while you can.
Safe travels.

You may be able to sell some to CITIZENS in Aurora Colorado.

Fly over, rent a car and drive it back with all 50.
Sell a few of them to cover the cost of the trip.
I rented a suburban and drove it from BR to MN and it cost about $900. The flight home was less than $200.
Those guns are not registered like motor vehicles and are damn near as liquid as cash. And that's true for whoever the first person is to get their hands on them.
No idea if you've seen your mom since your dad died, but that seems like that'd be a priority too.

Considered the drive as well. It was a lot of fun as a young man. I'm 50 now and thinking of all the extra piss breaks and achy back that would entail I'd prefer to do it that way though
Could also fly there and rent a car to get back home saving half the drive.

I made a trip from arkansas to Wisconsin to pick up inherited guns. I saved a ton of money by renting a fuel efficient car rather than taking my truck.
No way I would ship them. Too much red tape.

I have, a couple times. Spoke with her for an hour this afternoon based on this thread. yay moms
Fly to Nashville>rent car for one way drive to Denver sounds like the best plan
Thanks again for the advice, esp on the registration

Who is even gonna ship them to you? Your mom? Few people are comfortable with the act of shipping guns.

If you are selling to a non-immediate family member, a background check must be done by an FFL (Federal Firearm Licensee). However, immediate family members do not need background checks done to transfer firearms between one another. The firearm should not be transferred to any family member who is prohibited from purchasing and/or possessing firearm. Immediate family is defined as spouses, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, first cousins, aunts, and uncles (in-laws do not apply). (CRS 18-12-112)
CO Firearm FAQs
While it appears that the bulk of the advise in this thread is correct, I had to take a look. CO does have, as someone put it earlier, BS gun laws. But a transfer from immediate family member to immediate family member seems to be fine. I hate to say it though...if I were you...I would determine for yourself (absent of this board where most people do not live in CO) if this is the case. If you call CBI I am sure they are more than happy to answer your questions.

You don’t register in CO. I recently flew with my dad’s guns from CO to Oregon.
I didn’t do a single thing.

As mentioned, I've never registered any of my guys, but those were all purchased new by me. Wasn't sure if there was a difference taking over someone else's.
Exactly the advice I was looking for, thanks again

I would absolutely mind your p's and q's driving with that many guns. If you get Johnny dickhead pd wanting to search your vehicle for any reason they can make it a little more difficult for you.
Make sure there is 0 odor of weed in the car you rent and there is nothing remotely suspicious looking in plain view.

You have 50 "off the record" firearms, DO NOT get them in any type of system that may put them "on the record" (shipping them or registering them). As others have said drive ASAP, before no account relatives lay claim. I live in a state where there's very little enforced regulation of any kind and firearms aren't regulated at all, make sure you know the deal in CO.

For sure
I've done the drive 10 times or so. East TN>CO and always gone I-40 to Nashville and then up to I-70 through KY, MO and KS. I wonder if I-40 through TN, AR, OK, TX and NM might be a little more understanding of a bunch of guns crammed in a car with out of state plates
In the end probably about the same and depends mostly on the situation and particular LEO. Never been that way though

Another idea that may make you, the popo, and your mom feel better... write up a very simple Act of Donation, indicating that she is giving you XYZ guns for her love and affection for you. Sign it as an acceptor of the gift and it might avoid transit, ownership, and sibling clawback issues. Both date two copies and maybe have a witness or two. No registration, no recording in any courthouse. Just a simple gift of sane mind.
(I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. But is probably what I would do in the same scenario)
ETA: Put her copy in the safe/gun cabinet where the guns used to live
