I bought some kits for a buddy and I after watching videos in the rain all weekend. Looks fun and interesting. I'll probably never be rich and famous for fishing but it looks cool.

My father was a truly gifted fly fisherman… like an artist.
Until he had a stroke … which robbed him of the use of his right arm.
So I bought him a tenkara rig as a way for him to continue his love affair with fly fishing. He used it successfully for several years, but eventually became wheelchair bound and thus unable to continue.
He gave the tenkara to me, and I now take it backpacking with me on most of my trips. Its extremely light weight is perfect for backcountry mountain streams and alpine lakes. Eating fresh trout beats eating freeze dried food …. that’s for certain.

My son went through a Tenkara phase and I’ve used one some. Simple but limiting.

I've carried a tenkara rod backpacking for a few years. Awesome when you find a open pond. Just like a flyrod, tough to use when on a tree lined creek. An 8 ounce trout feels like a tarpon.
