If I am neighboring land owners I would damn well be asking for results long-term studies on chemical/metal soil leaching for these project.

I didnt know that people that own land have to use it to provide economic benefit to others.

For them.... yes.
I'd be skeptical of having this in my backyard.

The amazing thing in all of this is that Sweetlake Land and Oil Company has employees (high up employees) that supposedly care about farming and farmers. Maybe they don't have any say so in this, but taking land out of agriculture is a bad look nonetheless.

And guess where the electricity that is being generated from this is going? Not Louisiana, its going to be sent to Texas

They’re Xiden voters so what do you expect ?

I have a brother that lives down there. Looks like he will be able to look out out window and see the solar panels.
I need to call him and see what he thinks about this project.

Aaaah, makes sense that the Sweetlake Oil and Gas president said that generations of his family have "tried to be good neighbors."

The Morehouse solar farm rents are $3,000/ac for 20-25 years. SL&O is making a business decision based on return which I can’t blame them but I still wouldn’t want to live next to it.
Also, the Morehouse farm is rural with only one house within a mile of the site.

They are leading lots of land in Beauregard parish as well
Saw some eucalyptus plantations that got smoked by the hurricanes got sprayed recently. Assuming they are killing everything and going to burn it all and go in with solar
You read that correctly - eucalyptus plantations

This is how I feel about the one here in WBR. An acquaintance who farms the land of the proposed site was a staunch opponent- until they leased from him too. He explained that what they offered in rent was more than he’d ever earn farming that section so I understand his change of heart. And it beats having a shitty neighborhood built on the land, so I’m not completely opposed to the project. But I’d prefer they put it elsewhere. Hopefully they at least plant some sort of green barrier around the farm so I don’t have to see it.

Yep, Helms rd has several on SL&O property. Eucalyptus s the primary ingredient in pryretheim. Ethiopia is/was the main producer at one time maybe still is.

Holmwood, not Homewood.
Ducks and geese have coexisted for many decades with the 1 million barrels of oil and over 25 trillion cubic feet of natural gas produced there but won't have a place with ground covered with solar panels

A client in Texas with a small chemical plant on former oilfield tank battery ground discovered lots of hydrocarbons with PCB's when excavating before laying foundations for a small expansion. They were able to line two property lines with eucalyptus trees to gradually remove the hydrocarbons. Eucalyptus are extremely thirsty and tolerate hydrocarbons quite well. Within 10 years the 5 acre site was declared hydrocarbon free.
The trees sucked a lot of water their way causing migration of the soil contamination to increase rapidly in an area with ample rainfall.
BTW, those trees just look like shiite. Saw a lot of them in SoCal when I lived there as a project manager. They were planted to be harvested for railroad ties but the wood is pretty crappy for that use. They are a favorite tree for pulpwood in China.

Solar isn't perfect, but it is a good use for marginal lands. If this landowner sees it as the best economic use of his land, it is pretty big brotherish to try to stop him.
As a conservative, I'm voting on the side of individual's property rights.

This. Funny how many card-carrying, red-voting supposed capitalists switch sides when their neighbors start making more money than them.

It would impact not just neighboring landowners but a large chunk of SW Louisiana.

I cannot wait to put a huge solar farm on any land I can. Then herd sheep/goats on it and/or farm under it. And then post about it here to piss off grumpster Beuche. It's my main goal in life.
