A spring kit is going to have a marginal improvement.

I don’t consider ~2 lbs of trigger pull reduction to be marginal improvement, but that’s just me.

You need to spend $100 on a drop in (at the low end) to really upgrade the trigger.

Ive got those Rise Armament RA 140 3.lb drop in triggers in all my ARs. Its one upgrade that makes sense. I think I paid around $100 each for them.

For a Beginner, yes.

But in no time, he'll be eyeing $1500 BCM and DD, then 2200 G$ and LMTs.

It's just the natural progression.

Buy once, cry once is a thing. But it just takes years of wasted time and $ to figure that out.

You start here.

You end up here...

Or you do like me and stay satisfied with a cheap AR and save that money for more rifles with high grade walnut

Nice rifles though, sir

I don’t value the opinions of anyone who doesn’t own a suppressor already. J/K

Please don’t buy an AR from a gun show. Not only will it be some overpriced junk but you’ll get way better deals online or at a normal gun store.

Im ordering two of them this month. Hopefully that helps get my credit up around here.

In all seriousness, I wish I had consolidated quite a few gun purchases into a mk12 and an AEM5. Cheap basic AR's are cool and all, but nobody just owns one basic AR

I love how at gun shows half the ARs are from PSA and the show is asking $1200 when I can order it for $700 and have it in a week.

You’ll love them.

I could consolidate but I like having extras.

I love the 2 Wilson that I’ve built. But my 2 Radians are by far my favorites.

Forget the gun show. Order online so you get a decent deal on a gun that a dealer has not goobered up and overpriced.
I prefer the S&W 15T - flat top with fold down sights. One has served me well for over 20 years and I see no reason to upgrade. I like fold down iron sights because I use an AimPoint red dot sight. Even with the battery off, it shoots very well.

My 1st was a ruger. I have multiple other ARs now. Some $2000 models. For some reason that origin Ruger is still my favorite and is very reliable.

I can agree with this except when it comes to the trigger. It’s hard to enjoy shooting an AR with a heavy trigger. A spring kit is cheap and easy to install.

Anyone new to an AR15 should learn with a heavy, gritty, mil-spec trigger. If you can become a competent shot with that then dropping in something nicer should follow. Definitely should not mess with the trigger group as a newb either.

I'd also recommend starting with a basic 20 inch rifle, plenty of M16A2 and A4 clones available. Think my next AR will be an FN 15 Collector M16.

What's your budget. Definitely look at PSA. Im a trigger snob. You should find different options with Black Friday for under $100. I bought recently a blemished CMC trigger for $80ish.

Yet an actual military-grade M4 costs less than $500 by Unit cost.

Unfortunately there is a whole industry that makes money selling bullshite and snake oil to AR15 owners, grandiose claims that their special parts or proprietary coatings are a "must have" for durability, reliability, accuracy, etc. Overwhelming majority of those assertions are complete bullshite too.
