Gray Rat Snake. I caught many of these when I was younger. They make really good pets. Interesting photo. Rat Snakes are constrictors. They bite, constrict, kill, then eat. In that order. Seeing on in this position with a lifeless squirrel is something pretty rare.

That's why I'm thinking this happened way later and the squirrel fell off the limb while he was trying to eat it.

This, and apparently they like tree rats too. Cool pics!

That looks like a copper headed rattle moccasin. Best course of action would be to kill it before. It eats you.

It looks like the snake is looking at the camera in the first pic like "yeah, that's what's up"

Looks like he is up shite creek. Squirrel is too heavy to pull up to a branch, so he either drops it, or falls out of the tree. Hard to let go of a meal that will feed him for a month though. picture him slithering around with a lump that big in his belly.

I need resolution. WHAT HAPPENED?! Nobody just walks away from a scene like that, just to let nature take its course.

I asked my wife last night and she said that the snake was pretty high up in the tree. I'll ask my FIL tonight what he ended up doing. I'd imagine it was quite a scene. He's got 2 daughters that still live at home, so I'm sure they were in the "CHOOT IT!" crowd.

Yea, my wife is crazy about killing any snake we encounter at our house. She argued with me that I needed to kill a 4ft king snake because "when we find that snake wrapped around our babies neck, it'd be my arse"
