It's downright disheartening.
That's the truth. As someone who is in their 3rd year of archery, some of the stuff posted on there makes me feel like I'll never be a very consistent shooter.

There was a time I was convinced I needed to get a bow press, arrow cutter, fletching equipment, chrono, etc. just to get a properly tuned bow on my own. Luckily, I think I've found a guy that does quality work that I can take it to now if I need cables or string replaced. Most anything else I feel lile I can handle.
I miss the days sometimes of my Parker Stealth and NAP Spitfires. That thing was money. A POS by today's standards though. It's funny. That thing killed deer dead too.

How's that triax working out?

Most of those crazy minor adjustments guys make are because something is wrong and they don't know it.
Sure broadheads and FPs won't shoot perfectly the same, but as long as your arrows are properly spined, everything the same weight, etc. then you can get very close out to 60 yards. Now those guys that shoot 80-90 yards that may take some extra work.
My rule of thumb has always been 1" group for every 10 yards, so 5" at 50 yards. Now a days you can get more accurate than that really. But if you can shoot 5" groups at 50 yards that's 2.5" off of your aiming point. That's pretty dang good with broadheads.

Those are super nice. I've never owned a Mathews. Maybe one day.

All that matters is that your broadheads group...period.
As for the fletchings and broadheads aligned...I have always done the opposite. I like them set so you see a broadhead halfway between each gap between the vane, when looking down the arrow from the rear (nock). Has always worked for me.
(But I'm just a 3-time former state 3-D champ...so what do I know...)

Congrats. I talked to a fella yesterday that claims that his friend is on the Hoyt team. Said he won 3 nat'l titles with a bow that wouldn't paper tune.

I haven't shot through paper yet with the new bow. If my test shots with a fixed head hit close to my field points, I won't even bother.

I shot against several on the Hoyt team in Open "A" and Semi-Pro ASA tourneys when I shot a CSS.
Used to mess with them by asking them if I would drop my scores 8-10 points a round if I could be on Team Hoyt too?......

Who all should bare shaft tune?
Posted on 12/11/17 at 4:14 pm to AlxTgr
Just saw this.
I liked the idea of bare shaft tuning. Honestly makes the most sense if you have good/consistent shooting form. As long as Your paper is far enough aeay from the bow to allow all the launch “wiggles” to stabilize.
When I sold off my last tourney bow, a Matthews Conquest, the guy buying it wanted to know if it was still “tuned”. I shot a vaned arrow out of it at 20 yds then proceeded to Robin Hood that arrow with a bare shaft arrow.... needless to say he bought the bow. LOL

I've tried. From a few yards i had a slight tear and at 20 i had a much larger tear. I couldn't get it figured, so i went back to moving my rest so that my field points and broadheads group together.
