Have you plundered the chinks on Kincaid this year? May try to go there Saturday for a short trip. Gotta stay close for a ball tournament.

I like fishing the local waters, mainly the river and Kincaid, but this time of year its tough. The river is jacked, and the pressure on the smaller lakes here makes it tough. Summer time if I dont go on the river, Im heading to Toledo, spring and fall is a much different story.

I fished Crooked Creek reservoir last weekend, caught 5 bass but biggest one was 17", not much size to them. Water was a little high, caught them all on zoom super fluke texas rigged weightless.
Man I haven't fished there in a long, long time. Used to go a bunch in junior high and high school. Was only about 20 minutes from the house.

I really think the introduction of floridas has more to do with it than pressure. When those things decide not to bite, they just don't bite.

CLECO Lake is beginning to show some signs of revitalization. It used to be a great Lake until grass carp decimated the vegetation and turned the lake into a mud hole. The Company has purchased a machine to filter the water and its beginning to work. Introduction of grass carp is the most ridiculous and dumbest-arse idea for management ever conceived. Ruined Caney too. I just hope some jackasses who to go skiing or tubing at Toledo don't have the political stroke to talk the powers that be into introducing grass carp there so they don't have to contend with "grass in their motor". It would be the end of the Nation's "Number one fishery".

Extensive and healthy vegetation is essential to any successful ecosystem. Grass carp destroy the ecosystem. Caney Lake may take years to recover.

Two entirely different type (size) lakes to be comparing them. The small lakes around here will have huge swings in numbers and size with vegetation and bait fish changes compared to toledo, where you are generally talking about changes in areas of the lake. Apples to oranges.
And my experience at toledo, is the change in numbers of fishermen has been the increase in SLA fishermen, not cenla fishermen. SLA fishermen have the worst reputation in the state for keeping fish. I have no clue if it has reason, but to group that by area is a completely ignorant statement.

It has, about 30 years, but it has absolutely been on the up swing the last few years with the return of vegetation.

Thanks guys! I figured the Red was still causing problems. I heard reports that it might be going back up thanks to some more rain in Oklahoma. I agree with the fish hatchery and Indian Creek, No one here in CenLa can manage any of the lakes and it's sickening to be honest!

My guess is the size of the lakes and quick swings it can take in population.
If people knew the number of 10lbers that came out of IC the last 10 years, they wouldn't feel this way I believe.

So much emphasis is on everything on the TX/LA (Caddo, Sabine, Toledo Bend) and everything along the I-10 corridor and south, it just seems like the central Louisiana is forgotten about, because everyone from here goes everywhere else, mainly Toledo Bend.
