Most do outsie of the spawn, including me for the vast majority of my life. Most I know of came from 15' plus in the hottest time of the year.

Not much that can be told vs said. I do two things this time of year. A heavy carolina rig to throw under schoolers (whether they are hitting the top or on the graph) with a shad type plastic. I don't fish it slow but works best with bottom contact. And I use a heavy jig in the deep cover. Lakes too small to post spots on here and I've spent way too many hours out there to give it away to strangers . I'm no guru on the matter but have had good success in the past. I also haven't been much the last two years either due to time issues at home and work, so TIFWIW.

You really need to talk to Cadello, as he never catches under 15, and 5 of those will be over 4.

Here are some from IC

We kill them on Sibley, Cane, Grand Bayou, Black Lake, and Red except this year.

I really miss Cane. Not sure why I did not go this year. Probably because of how great all the other CENLA lakes are due to the pervasive catch and release culture of central La.

i have to confess, i use the same stereotype on the coonasses, but i've been up here 20+ years and the rednecks are pretty good about the catch and release. they will keep a lunch sack now and then.

Me & Alex were on Lac Ophelia in Avoyelles once, and caught a couple of 3-4# bass in quick succession, within sight of several other boats. We held them up, then chunked them back. Cajun couple trolls over to ask us what kind of fish those were. "Bass". They then asked why we threw them back. "too big" we said. they were completely befuddled, and left shaking their heads.

I really loved that lake. Shame it's been closed for 10+ years now.

3.5#+ I throw back every time. We clean the smaller fish and damn they're good.

agreed, though i would go lower to 2# and under for keeping. release anything bigger.

really i've been so spoiled with sacs and trout that i hardly keep the basses anymore.
