re: Chevy 1500 or Ram 1500?

On a Ram, you can barely get a socket on the oil pan drain screw. When the screw is fully removed, the oil stream hits the front anti-sway bar and oil splashes everywhere in a 5 ft radius. If that’s the level of engineering that went into the Ram - no thanks.
Chevy - cheap piece of shite cars and trucks. Engines are ancient technology single cam pushrod designs and they can’t even make that reliable especially their lifters. Engines consume oil like crazy, engines completely fail at low mileage, and the trucks are butt ugly.
On top of that, Ram and Chevy were both bailed out by Obama so they could keep paying their union salaries and making shitty vehicles.
Nissan Titan is dead. New Tundras have piece of shite engines due to poor quality machining. Toyota is spending billions putting new engines in Tundras and Lexuses.
There is only one choice left.

Oh yeah those are great for mud bogging, hauling dirt and rocks and towing horses, boats, tractors, and skid steers and going hunting.

The company that has more money spent on warranty work than all others?

Blah, blah, blah, blah. So the only choice is to buy some junk. That’s what I thought I read too

Hey when they sell nearly twice as many trucks as the next most popular truck, the laws of statistics catch up.
There is a saying that I can use as an analogy: whoever eats the most duck eats the most feathers.

Sorry, but if they were that good the stock would not have gotten pummeled.
Can’t say they make a good product when they don’t know how to fix the issues they have.

I have a Ram and I like it. If you can't find one with a Hemi though I'd go Chevy. The new Hurricane engine puts out impressive numbers but reliability is yet to be really known. It's been in the Wagoneer for a while but they only sold like 9 of those.

Traditional ford guy who got in a new model RAM in 2019.
120k miles later not a single problem.
Interior was far better than the rest at the time.
The newer GMC model interests me, but not enough for a new car note.
Also about the rams. The tires that came on mine were absolute shite. If you get the 22 inch rims, like on the limited, replace the tires immediately

My GM 350 engine and transmission have nearly 280,000 miles on them, and I’ve never had any sort of major mechanical failure with either. (knock on wood)
I’d certainly rather one of the old school V8’s than one of the new souped up V6 turbos, that no one knows the longevity of.

Over 200k on mine dyno tuned at 400whp on 93 pump and original 6R80.
Soon I’m going to see if I can blow up a 5.0 coyote with a Whipple on pump gas (about 600whp). Y’all can keep your Obama pushrods.

Our 2013 F150 with the Coyote does something similar when you remove the oil filter, drips and collects on a cross-member and linkage(IIRC). And despite trying to wipe it all clean from my back, it dribbles on the ground for 2-3 more days.

I would never let the way the oil drains determine the make of vehicle I buy. Here is what I have done to my Ram, a Valvomax drain plug (insert the tube into a jug, no pan needed) and a Pacbrake Oil Filter Relocation kit. The oil filter location on the HEMI is a huge PIA, but not anymore.

Technically not true if you combine Chevy and GMC.

I was a GM guy my whole life. I decided to try Ram in 2011 due family obligations. That first truck lasted 275,000 miles. It was the most reliable vehicle I ever owned. My current Ram has the Ram Boxes. This is a feature I don't think I could ever do without. Since Ram was separated from dodge it has won truck of the year more than any other brand. They have also been at the top of the reliability more consistently than the others as well. I wouldn't be afraid of trying one out.

I was thinking of pulling the trigger in 2020 on a new truck. Decided against it, but I would have gone with a Ram.
I've had GMC and Ford, and I'm not really impressed with what GMC/Ford have done for value, reliability, interior, or electronics over the last 5-10 years.
Ram seems to be actively trying to win in all 4 facets. I respect that.
Plus, as many have said, the interior storage and ram boxes are nice.
If I ever do buy another truck, I'll likely go Ram.

My last two trucks have been Rams. Other than the usual issues that all truck makers have, I haven't had much to complain about.
The interior is nicer than Silverados.
But, Ram is phasing out the Hemi. I believe none of the 2025 models will have the option for a Hemi; they will all have their new Hurricane motor, which is an I-6 twin turbo engine.

Ford Recalls 90,000 Vehicles for Catastrophic Engine Failure
quote:
Ford has recalled 90,736 vehicles for a potential catastrophic engine failure.
Faulty intake valves could break in certain 2.7-liter and 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 engines.
The 2021-2022 F-150, Bronco, Explorer, Edge, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator are affected by the recall.
I'll bet that the 90k number goes significantly higher....

If you buy a f150 with the little 2.7L sissy engine, shame on ya!
