Was the rip formed up good Fin? I don't think I want to clean up the blood of 300 chicks.

NOAA really fricks the sportfisherman with that 28 day snapper season. Out of 28 days most fisherman are lucky to get 5 or 6 days of fishing

Not even sure we got that last summer. It was rough as a cob almost the entire time. So, we lost several weeks and after looking at weather and catch data (allegedly) they generously gave us an extra 4 or 5 days?

Winds switched out the south and died over the last hour or so, probably about 5 mph now at the camp. Had a pretty stiff west wind around noon.

Fished hopedale this morning and the wind was definitely blowing more than they forecasted. Didn't catch any trout in the rocks or rigs, moved into the marsh and caught two reds, 1 keeper and 1 tagged and released. I can tell you were all the gaftops are. Starting to lose faith in my fishing abilities.

Last couple of times I fished down there, they were under the gulls. Two at a time slime

Yesterday was delightful. Caught 31 with a few 3-4.5 trout thanks to venture's tip. Fished with my ole lady so baiting hook and taking off fish was my excuse for not having a limit.

Sitting at the marsh camp with a coffe. It's breezy this am. Had a nice storm rumble through at 5:30. Got a dozen or so crabs in the traps. Gonna let em soak some more, clean up and head home.

Good weekend.

Caught 10 trout on the beach late yesterday afternoon in GI.

Let the dog out at 430 and saw it was blowing so slept in.

Almost went to grand isle to fish beach, but diverted to Delacroix. Good call. Resulted in 3 man red limit, 4 drum. All between 16-19 inches. Also managed 6 stingrays.

It was a little sporty out there this morning.

Never seen so many boats offshore as I did Sat. Ever rig had a boat, the popular ones had a waiting list. Started fishing some of my wrecks and got pot licked. Snapper, mahi, lemons, went 0-2 on wahoo, spoon fed one on side of boat around 70# and the guy starts cranking down the drag and swivel fails. I was informed the fish was taking too much line so he didn't think I set the drag properly and I needed better swivels.

Had a blue up and a kid on boat grabs a popper and damn near drops the thing on her bill. Just the thought of how that brief encounter would have went down cracked me up. No joy on fish.

On Saturday we picked up our snapper limit and then worked our way out and got as far as 45 miles south of South Pass and all of the sudden a the wind was howling out of the South. It was like somebody flipped a switch on a big-arse fan. We had seen the updated predictions of increasing winds at midnight but they got there at 4 pm. We headed in and got soaked by several rain storms...fortunately no lightning or strong winds with it.
