...and at your buddy.

But please do this. Next time you chat, look him strait in the eyes and slowly and definitively say to him with authority in your voice: "You did the right thing. I'm proud of you. And I'm really angry at that the turd for putting you in such a position, forcing you to do that. You did the right thing. Don't ever forget that."

It's obvious and he already knows this intellectually, but it sure helps to hear someone sincerely vocalize it. Then leave it alone and move on.

And also, keep in mind that a shooting event occurring in your domicile affects you differently than a military engagement. More after-action "what if's" swirl around the brain for some time.

What's crazy is that I almost said the exact thing to him the day after. I told him he did nothing wrong and damn that man who put him in such a bad situation and forcing you to do that. I also said what if he hadn't been home and the girl who was there (she is pretty) had been alone? She probably would have been raped and killed.

We discussed this incident at my CC class last month. That guy had so much roid in him and he was about to take that cops pistol from him.

That's actually where I heard the story before I read about it on the net. My CC instructor told me about it.

Pistols are bad at stopping people - period. That's why this can manage to happen. And when you add drugs to it, it's like the perp has an on-off switch. He'll go from full blown rage to dead in a second.

If he still has the life in him to call a lawyer he is still a threat and the threat has not yet been neutralized. If he can come back for revenge later he has not yet been neutralized.

The fact that the cop had the presence of mind to jam his Glock so it couldn't be used once the BG got it was amazing to me

I accelerated a little suddenly last time we fished. You may have a latent herniation ready to become symptomatic. Sorry, but I'm going to have to kill you.

On the "Talking to the Cops"....this is pure Bull Crap Stupid. And Alx Tiger is an atty and knows it. Bapple and Faxis are absolutely correct. The one thing I was taught in my CC class in TX was to say NOTHING. Even your 911 call is evidence.
Holy shite....

Come on now, you know damn well if he actually hit him center mass (heart, lung, major vessels, liver, spleen) with 6 rounds of 40 cal (even if they passed right trhough) the guy should be deader than a door nail.

Ambulance must have been waiting in the parking lot.

Memphis has some of the best trauma surgeons in the US (according to Tom Givens @ Rangemaster).

I don't know why so many here are shocked that the guy wasn't killed instantly especially with all the hunters.

People don't die like in the movies. How many hunters here have shot a deer with a high powered rifle making a vital kill shot only to have it run off a considerable distance.

In before someone suggests the shooter should have just racked the slide on a pump shotgun.

Very hard to believe he could survive those hits. His family denied performing an autopsy but it was believed he was major on the juice

The BR coroner's report (presumably factual information) didn't indicate the presence of any drugs -- which was/is surprising. I would have bet a lot of money that Temple was under the influence of some "heavy duty" drugs.
