My Uncle just dropped off this revolver for me. I've never heard of a 44 Russian. I'm imagining that having it chromed hurts the value of it though. 9mm included for size comparison.

Maybe a dumb question, that third round looks smaller, is that for comparison or something else?

If you read the post it says "9mm included for size comparison", so yeah, I just threw that in there to show the difference between the sizes. I don't think I'm going to shoot this thing though.

I know someone that has a Colt SAA in .44 Russian / S&W Spec. They were made by Colt for the Russian Army in the early 1900s. Very few made and fewer survivors of it.

I think the Russian is a slightly shorter case than the spec. Similar to the .357 and .38

I read that this one was 1870 to 19-15 and they made about 54,000 so that's a pretty significant number. I do see them for sale in original shape for around 1500 to 2k

This one is different than those I believe. It’s stamped .44 S&W/Russian

Less than 300 made.

A revolver stamped .44 spec will accept .44 Russian and they made many of those like you see.

I could be completely wrong. However.

Is it just nickel plated? They did nickel plate some guns in this era. That finish does appear a little too good for a gun that old, though.

That's what it looks like

Every old gun I have has been messed up. I have a Marlin 1893 (.32 special) from 1904 that was blued in the 70's but I'm going to have it brought back to case hardened by a guy in Houston. I just have to get it there
