I'm having a difficult time finding the actual link on this one. Can someone with a better Google help me out?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Put a bow on it and hand it to him/her
That’s it.
That’s it.

I get it. That will be the end result, but I still want to see it in writing from the source.
Let's just say that someone else would feel much better officially knowing it's legal.

Did you buy it legally?
There is no registration of guns.
The only time there might be the slightest issue is if you were gifting across state lines.
You are fine unless the person has a record.
I gave my son a pistol when he turned 18. Not to mention the several other guns he got when he was younger.

As I previously stated, I understand. However, I need to see it in writing to prove it's legal.

You asked for help, people answered your question from experience and it’s not good enough for you. At this point you are welcomed to help yourself sir.

Louisiana defaults to the federal government's ( ATF) laws in regards to this. At the end of the day, gifting is just another type of transfer/acquisition. If you want something literally written, email your sheriff for clarification

This is most definitely helpful. I didn't realize Louisiana simply defaults to ATF laws. I found that, as well. This will be enough to prove what I already knew. Just needed something in writing to prove it to others.
Thanks!

I think the more confusing part is whether an 18 year can have a handgun. For the longest time I thought 18-20 year olds could only have long guns.

If I remember correctly from my time working at a gun store:
18 year old can purchase a NEW long gun
18 year old can't purchase a handgun NEW, from an dealer, but can be gifted or purchase USED from an individual.
18 year old can't buy handgun ammunition, but can possess it.
Strange laws, strange laws

My dad bought me a Dan Wesson 44 mag for my 17 birthday present. Now this was in the late 80’s. I loved his M29 and I think secretly he always wanted a DW so it was a good excuse to buy one.

AH, my bad. In that case, here's one of several resources available:

Also the second amendment is pretty cut and dry.

This is correct.
