It looks like they used a doe mold for a buck. The ears look like they're not stretched out far enough.

i don't care for the matching wood on deer mount to the wood paneling where hung. Would have thought a contrasting color would have done better.

I think that's what is making it look off. Looks like the mold is too small for the cape. Maybe he measured it wrong. Either way, great buck. You could always get it re-mounted if it bothers you.

Here's a pic of him caped out. I kinda see what some of y'all are saying about the eyes and the scull plate now. I guess my attention to detail is terrible.
Funny thing is the same guy did one for me over 10 years ago, and it doesn't have the bulging eyes.
