Hmmm

One guy is an a$$hole that talks big using a letter with crappy hand writing.

The other lets a pit bull roam at large.

As a third party in this neighborhood, I'm looking at moving.

Solid observation.

He could make his life miserable for a while. This guy doesn't sound like he'd know offhand what a lawyer can or can't do. Like I said, the idea is to get him to do something stupid that he can be prosecuted for.

Please elaborate. What in the world could a lawyer do? If the dog was on his property, he can shoot it if it threatened him or his property (not gonna prove otherwise).

All you would do is waste your money. If the dog was on his property, he could've flagpoled it, without punishment.

Sounds like a good neighbor. Just shot the wrong dog

Dog or no dog, the way the letter was written would be enough for a personal visit to have a little discussion. Maybe you enjoy hanging around total assholes, I really don't. He would definitely be called out.

At best, all he's going to get by going to court is reimbursement for the value of the dog. $150 tops.

I wouldn't shoot someone's dog unless it was acting aggressive towards my dogs or me. My first thing would be to have it documented that I'm having issues with an aggressive dog with animal control or the sheriff. I would speak with the neighbor letting him know to keep his dogs contained. After that if the dogs continued to roam free and threaten myself or property I may shot an aggressive dog. After I shot the dog the police would be called. There had to be more to this story if not than the guy who shot the dog is a dick and should be dealt with accordingly. Probably wouldn't be a smart idea to try and kick his arse even though that's what I would want to do. Trying to fight would probably get one of the two people involved killed considering the guy who killed them would be armed and an a-hole.

Six years ago, when the girls were 6 and 5 years old, we had some lowlife folks move into the house that's closest to our place. They had about three acres of property with their place and had moved there from living in a trailer on a small lot. I guess they thought and felt like they were now living on a thousand acres because they were trouble from the start. They had five dogs which they kept in that house, two of which were a bitch Rottweiller and her half grown pup. These new neighbors thought they could just let these two big dogs roam at will. Well, one evening after working in the garden, I was sitting on my own front porch, cooling off with a glass of ice tea when I heard this low growl coming from right behind me. It was that bitch Rottweiller and her pup. I threw my tea glass at her and ran to get my .357. She was gone when I got back out on the porch. I immediately went to the sheriff's office and told them that I had two young granddaughters that played outside and in no way, fashion, or form was I going to allow those dogs on my property. Told the sheriff to go ahead and get my cell ready because if and when that bitch Rottweiller set so much as a toenail on my property, day or night, that I was going to shoot them. Sheriff sent his deputy down to these folks house and told them their dogs were in grave danger of being destroyed if they didn't keep them up. Next thing I know these neighbors had put up an electric fence and had the Rottweillers on a log chain. No more dog problems out of them. They have since gone to jail for drug trafficking and been evicted from that house.

People who put dogs on long chains usually follow a path like you stated.

I'm not going to lie I would bring your dog to the pound without tags If it repeatedly was in my yard. Wouldn't kill it unless it went after my animal.

I wouldn't say a single word to him.

That's fricked up. One reason why I have signage on my property warning of bite dogs and the GSDs wear reflective orange collars when they're outside.

A husky mix and a pit bull out together can get into lots of trouble. When they stalk or attack they are very efficient and deadly. In a group they are more aggressive. If they were running out wild in a neighborhood, I can imagine situations where they could end up shot.

The letter doesn't help though.

I love how everyone assumes it is a sweet little dog with no priors. I'm picturing a shithead owner who has been told many times previous to keep his dog on a leash.

yeah my neighbor got mad cause my shiz zhu got off its leash and was in her yard. Her husband told me he was going to kill it the next time he saw it.

I just threw some hamburger balls mixed with rat poison and crushed up asprin and dipped in antifreeze out and let his dog go to town. No more problems.
