Pretty safe to assume there is a history of trespass by the dogs, who have no concept of property lines. The neighbor's method of handling was pretty shitty, but no lawyer is going to represent you for $100 dog in an intentional act case where insurance won't cover. Keeping your dog in your yard, or on a leash seems reasonable, and I'm sure there are ordinances requiring that. There are a ton of crappy dog owners out there though, who act irresponsibly with their pets in many different ways.
Soooo, looks like everyone is an a-hole in this neighborhood. Time to move.

I'm with you on this. At one time several years ago, I made the mistake of allowing my MIL to move onto a corner of our property. The first thing she did was go out and get this retriever mix/Heinz 57 bitch dog. She never gave it a bath and it stunk to high heaven. Her dog always came to our house whenever any of the grandkids were outside playing. Not only did that dog literally stink to high heaven, but it got that stink all over the grandkids, too. And it would go out of its way to cross 40 acres and come $hit in my front yard. I would shovel up that $hit and take it down to her yard and throw it away. She thought it was funny, but I wasn't laughing. Fortunately, she finally moved away to another state and took her stinkin, $hittin dog with her.

That is shear ignorance.
You're assuming that owners "let" their dog(s) run free, without acknowledging the fact that sometimes, dogs get out.
I had a dog that for awhile was very problematic for me to keep in the yard after we moved. I walked the yard and used bricks and chicken wire on the places with a gap in the bottom of the fence. Well, he dug them up and got out anyway, and I reinforced them, and he ended up chewing/biting/scratching at the bottom of the fence and broke the boards.
Long story longer, it got so bad that I but him in a cage while I was at work, and he even flipped the sage on its side, and pried the bottom away from the rest of the sage, got out, dug up the bricks, and busted fence and got out.
Sometimes shite happens, and dogs just want out, they have a lot of free time on their hands while you're at work.

If someone wants to claim it is illegal that my dog is in there yard for any length of time and use that as validation to shoot my dog, so be it.
Actions have consequences and unless my dog was threatening them, if they shoot my dog (even if legal) without at least talking to me about it, I have recourse also legally allowed and will use that.
For the record I own a gentle lab that is friends with everyone and not a pitbull so claiming that my dog is threatening you would be a stretch.

Why would anyone want to own something like this?? If you have such a hard time keeping your dog in your yard then you don't have any business owning a dog. Your inability to properly constrain your dog is placing a burden on your neighbors. Your problem is now their problem. If your dog is ripping through a cage and digging up bricks it's obviously a danger to children in the area. You are exactly the type of problem dog owner that I'm talking about. YOUR DOG is not MY PROBLEM. When you make it my problem, I'll solve it real quick like.

some dogs are not cut out for neighborhoods andsome owners are too selfish to figure it out

This is the problem. No....no your dog is not my friend. I don't think it's cute and I have no idea whether or not it's a threat and I really don't care to find out the hard way. Your lab shits human size turds and I don't want it in my yard. Keep your dog in your yard and there wont be any issues. For the record here if I see a dog in my yard ONCE, I chase it out and hopefully the owner gets their dog under control. Multiple times tells me that they are inconsiderate and incapable dog owners and that they don't mind making their dog everyone elses problem....when you pose problems to people, those people are going to pose problems to you. Just keep your dog in your yard. It's really not that difficult.

I have several friends that shoot hunting dogs on site. The neighbor comes down the creek dumping them in the water and they chase deer through their property to the neighbors. They got fed up finally and will put down a few every year.
I also hate my neighbor who comes out and yells at me for letting my wife's 10lb ankle biter poop in their yard. I know they have a large boxer, and I know they let it poop in my yard because I have watched it do it often as they walk it.
After they complained I don't let my dog poop there anymore, but I do plan to bring that dog to the pound should I see it out.

For one, the problem ceases to exist, unfortunately it takes some trial and error to figure out what works and doesnt work in regards to keeping a problematic dog in the yard. For two you are a jackass. Did I say it was your problem? No, I simply stated that sometimes shite happens beyond the owners control. A dog that got out of the yard isn't automatically your problem.
You see a dog and want to call animal control, then go ahead, but you and people like you that deem any roaming dog to be free target practice are a few fries short of a happy meal.
Yeah obviously
...or not. When he got out, and my neighbors got him and called me, they actually told me how well behaved and tempered he is, he just doesn't like being behind a wooden fence.
He got out probably 5 or 6 times, and 3 or 4 of those times I was home and got him back myself. Even the law (in LA anyway) says the dog owner must make "reasonable" accommodations to keep pets/dogs in the yard. Hell, people have kids and they play in yards, and sometimes the dog(s) get out. Guess that means you get to shoot that dog too right? Then again, this is the internet, and its filled with badasses, so I guess you would.
Your failure to realize that shite happens sometimes, only shows your ignorance.

Did you seriously think it was ok to let your dog go shite in their yard? How does one come to this conclusion? You bought the dog. The dogs shite is your problem. Not your neighbors.
