If everyone in Chicago had a piece of Sitka gear, it would be just another day today.

It’s not worth it to the folks that can’t afford it. It’s like people saying they drive an XLT because they didn’t want a Kinng Ranch. ????
Sitka is bad arse.

Comparing Sitka gear to Ford XLT/KR is perfect analogy.

This is what our pheasant guides were wearing out in South Dakota. My time on this Nov/Dec pheasant hunt taught me the value of matching the right cloths and footwear with the specific hunt.

Talk to me like I am a four year old
Hunting in 30 deg (and below) weather:
Without Sitka:
Base Layer top and bottom
mid insulated layer (possibly 2)
insulated vest (optional)
bulky jacket
With Sitka:
Base Layer
Mid insulated Layer
Vest
or
Base Layer
Non-bulky outer layer
The biggest seller to me was the removal of the bulkiness with traditional hunting gear.
When you are walking 1/2 - 3/4 mile carrying a climber, bow, backpack, etc.. The last thing you want to deal with is a big bulky jacket and bibs...
Their technology (GoreStop I think it's called) blocks the wind and does it thinly. Where as with traditional gear, they use bulk to block the wind.
Hunted this year in my box with a tshirt, thin pants, sitka bibs and jacket in 30 deg weather.
Just my thoughts. It works for me and that's what matters to me.

First Lite Sanctuary
I never thought I would pay premium prices for camo, but once I decided to go with merino wool I started looking in to First Lite. I picked up a piece here and there, bought used pieces and waited for their after season sales, and I feel like I have a good set up now. I cannot stand to sit there cold when I plan to hunt all day. On the coldest days now I can wear a 250g merino wool base layer, a First Lite Chama hoody, which is also 250g wool and a pair of their guide pants, and a Sanctuary Jacket and bib set. I typically have to carry my jacket and bibs to the stand in a dry bag and put them on because walking for any distance in them will get you sweating even when it's below freezing.

How did they achieve this? They invented new material? Because if not I dont know how they changed the science of retaining body heat

I just picked up another pair of the Obsidian pants and the puffy jacket. Same as you, I've picked up pieces here and there, got a gift card for Christmas. Only thing I might get next will be the rain stuff.

I am going to break down and get this stuff for next season. You guys are going to have to teach me how to buy it.

I recommend looking at Midway USA’s branded gear. They have low end stuff to higher end fleece and wool and the quality is second to none. I have a pair of bibs and a jacket that I promise are as warm as anything you’ll find. Buying after the season can result in some good deals and anyone who’s ever dealt with Midway knows their customer service is top notch.

I have a few pieces of it. Didn't get to hunt much this year as life got in the way but was able to go once.
I wore it. The gore windstop was worth it.

I have a theory that Larry Potterfield is an absolute tyrant to work for. No way anyone can be that nice as he comes across.
