I am always amazed by the amount of people I come across who make claims like “ I wish the neighbors would quit shooting they keep ruining my hunts”
I’ve posted this here before. Our property butts up to the sheriff’s parish shooting range. It’s a pretty busy place on saturdays and most days of the week except sundays. Deer don’t seem to mind; I guess they’re used to it.

Just finished deboning a front shoulder of my pig and a front shoulder of a kid’s doe from yesterday. Everyone wants a Dallas Keith chili tonight, so I’ll be hunting the driveway from camp porch this afternoon.

Back at this evening. Scouted my way in and got set up on the tip of a ridge with a big swamp to the north. I’ve never hunted this ridge, but I had a good buck on camera last year on the next ridge over. I know they’re in the swamp and head to these ridges in the evening. Hopefully big boy picks this one to come down.
Had a doe come through at 7:30 this morning, about 55 yards out. Then at 8:30 a mature, nice buck came cruising through on her trail. He wasn’t a giant, but he was definitely a shooter. Let him work down a little bit and hit the grunt. He stopped and looked, but he had one thing on his mind.
When I got down, I found a good tree for tomorrow that will put me in range of that trail.

Man I hope you get a deer tomorrow.
I've been tied up with honey dos all day. Really hoping to get to hunt tomorrow afternoon. I'm hunting anything legal from here on out buck or doe. Ideally, I get one either tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning. I'd like to shoot one tomorrow, gut it, and hang it in the shed overnight to deal with on Monday morning. My wife would probably be happy if I stopped talking about deer hunting until next season.
