Shot a nice doe at 730. Done got her to the processor. Haven’t killed one in 2 years almost so I was very thankful for the meat.

Slow morning but I’ve seen 9 in the last 40 min. None have come out of the thicket into open woods.

I haven’t seen a deer since the ride to the camp Friday morning around 3:50am on hwy 190 just west of Erwinville. Hoping LDWF drops off a delivery of B&C bucks from Canada soon.

I assume you’re joking. But my cousin killed a big one in Union Parish in 1965 that’s still in the top 50 in the state I believe. They weighed it on a cotton scale and it was over 300 pounds. They contacted WLF to have it certified or whatever and the biologist said it had just come from Wisconsin.

No joke, I’ll take a 50 pounder right about now. I’m hungry for fried backstrap and can’t find a deer in this swamp this weekend, lol.

Just had another spike walk out. I might have to shoot one of these bastards before the weekend is over.

That’s 4 today I’ve seen.

They eat good and are dumb. 10/10 definitely recommend shooting.

I'm a huge fan of shooting spikes. Mainly because they are dumb, make me think they are does, and get shot. If you could put a doe tag on them, I'd shoot 3 a year.

I'm just a huge fan of people killing deer.

Update - put a raggedy looking 6 pt on the ground to fill the freezer at 9:00. 15 yd shot, double lung, fell in sight at 45 yds. Drug out and cleaned up.

First arrow I let fly this year, couldn’t pass it up. Time for some football!

Back at it this afternoon in the same stand. My deer skinner will be here in 30 minutes or so, so I might pop something this afternoon.

Momma wanted to keep him home an extra night to spend time with him since I see him every weekend during deer season and she never does.

Brookhaven, Ms. Ladder stand on a white oak flat.
58 degrees and dead calm. One of my favorite evenings to hunt is after the first freeze.
