Keep this on the DL but the Pioneer Mtns in Montana are incredible. Great fishing. Few people. Very few people. I went camping and backpacking (base camp with truck camper and then backpacked way up to a pristine lake). Fourth of July weekend. Saw one other person.
Big Hole is a popular spot.
And you can take llamas into the bc.

I used to live in Colorado and I took a guided trip to show me the ropes. Turned out to be a blast and was so much fun that I have been back without a guide even though I no longer live there.
I got my guide through a local fly shop in steamboat springs called the Bucking Rainbow. They have access to private waters, so you can get away from the crowds. I don’t miss living in Colorado, but I do miss having access to fly fishing, elk hunting, etc.
If you want to go in the high mountain streams, they don’t clear up until about June when the snow finishes melting.

Check out a town called Alpine, Wyoming.
It's got what you looking for.
Hundreds of miles of forest service roads that follow the river. Dispersed camping. Nobody will be up on you fishing. USFS rents some remote cabins in that area.

I went to Bozeman Mid June last year. pretty awesome. We fly fished about an hour away, south of Ennis in the Madison River. Did some white water rafting closer to Bozeman that was a blast. The rafting guide said that end of May, early June is when the rapids are the biggest.
