Was always a big benelli guy. My sbe 3 went back to benelli because the barrel broke off of it when I was shooting at a duck. Took benelli a year to fix it and get back to me. While it was gone, I borrowed a beretta A400 Xtreme plus that my dad no longer needed. Liked the gun so much I never went back to benelli. I like the way the beretta shoulders better and they are the most reliable shotguns in the world.
I hunted with a SBE for 30 years. Son needed a shotgun for duck hunting, so bought a Beretta A400 Xtreme this past July. After shooting both, I gave him the SBE and hunted with the Beretta all season. Both are great, just liked the recoil on the Beretta better, lighter.
I also switched to BOSS Warchief Shotgun shells. Noticeably less cripples, more dead on the water. Didn’t have to waste shells.

I have had a beretta a400 extreme since they were released and I love it. For a pure duck and goose hunting 12 gauge, I’d get the beretta again tomorrow.
However, if I were getting a do everything gun it would be a Benelli m2 20 gauge. They are much lighter and all the recoil benefits of the beretta don’t really show up as well in a 20 gauge.

I own SX4 in 20 and recently bought the 12. Great shooting gun and has never given me any trouble.

Another local hunting store has a Browning Maxus 2 stalker for 1,299.00. Is that a good deal?

Beretta 1301 Comp Pro (not the Tactical). Great shotgun.
You might also look into the Benelli M-3, which is both a pump and a semi. Very quick adjustment. Extremely versatile.
