Thank you for the heads up. I’m debating adding a few more. Not sure why, but why not.

I’ve been picking up a few different boxes of good .223 and 5.56 ammo for pig/coyote/bobcat hunting. Decided to swap out my red dot for a Vortex Crossfire I had laying around. I don’t have any shots on my lease longer than 150, so the 3-9x is perfect. Went today and sighted it in with some cheap Winchester FMJ that surprisingly held a 1 MOA group at 100 yards. (I’m using a PSA lower and upper with a Larue trigger) The first hunting ammo I tried was 55 gr Federal Premium with Barnes TTSX. They were dead on and a sub MOA 3-shot group. Next was Federal blue box 64 grain soft points. Again, dead on and sub MOA. Finally I tried some 70 gr Barnes in 5.56. They shot a little under 2 MOA and about an inch or so low. Really surprised at how close the 55 and 64 grain shot and very happy that everything shot well enough to kill with.

I bought the complete upper from PSA, it shows as a 4150 Chrome-Moly Vanadium barrel. Whatever the hell that means

Anybody know how FN barrels compare to DD barrels, as far as accuracy goes?

What are our thoughts on the fully factory assembled PSA 16” Gas freedom rifle for a first time AR buyer?

I would say don't do it.

Search for a complete lower BlEM and complete upper BLEM and snap them together.

Save quite a bit. Saw the pair the other day for 400. You just snap em together.

The lower will need to go to a FFL but the upper will come to your house. Make sure the upper description says included BCG and Charging handle.

I have several things from PSA. No issues at all

Blem complete lower $120

complete upper with flip up rear sight 300.

You can find some blemished with different upper configurations if you don't want the classic. Thing is just search blemished.

Is it really that easy?

Yes. Literally two pins to snap together. I prefer to use my thumb. Others use their index fingers.

If the lower is complete and assembled, yes. If you have any sort of mechanical sense building a lower from a kit isn’t difficult, but if it’s already assembled it really is that easy.

Yes. Two slide pins.

Line the front one up and slide in. Rotate the back of the upper down and line up the back holes and slide the back pins in. Watch a video on YouTube.

I'd wouldn't BS you on this. We shoot straight over here :)

Under $500 with the FFL fee and you have a rifle. Buy some pmags or the stainless black ones from c products (duramags). I like the duramags myself.

Get some ammo. And go shoot. I bet PSA has plenty of PMAGs to place with your order. Probably some ammo too. One stop shop.

That upper should shoot both 556 and 223. 556 is a higher pressure. You never want to shoot 556 in a 223 but you can shoot a 223 and 556 in a 556 upper. Will be mentioned in the description of the upper and stamped on it as well.

$100 for 100 rounds of Federal American Eagle and 5 30-round PMAGs

$200 for 200 rounds of PPU Rangemaster and 10 30-round PMAGs

plus a few other options

Yep. I had to unsubscribe from the PSA emails. I can only stomach losing so many ARs

How does the PSA compare to a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 SPORT II for a little over $600 or a Radical Firearms Forged Milspec Rifle for $500?

The Smith sport 2 is a fine rifle.

Radical arms a little less on the scale.

The PSA to me is on par with the Smith.

I'd have not problems buying at that point if you wanted a complete gun. But for 600 you could have the psa, flip up rear sight, magazines, and ammo. I have 2 lowers and one upper from PSA plus their lower build kit. All are great. Zero issues. Super happy with them.

Are there any issues with jamming when you do this?
