Are there any issues with jamming when you do this?
No. Just don't shoot 5.56 ammo in a .223 rifle. There is a slight difference, and if you shoot the 5.56mm in a .223, there is extra back pressure that causes the casing to expand and stick in the chamber.

Are the magazine interchangeable? If I was to do this and get an ammo/magazine package which would you recommend - the 223 or 5.56?

Yes. I don’t think you can tell the bullets apart if they are laying side by side.
If your AR is 5.56, then get either. Won’t make a difference.

556 vs 223 refers to the chambering in the rifle. It has nothing to do with the actual projectile., both are 22 caliber (.224 to be exact).
Typically, 556 brass is thicker than 223 and the charges are hotter out of the box because they're usually military (or mock military) rounds. The primers are also going to he heavier duty and require a strong strike.
That's the only difference in the two rounds.

I was one white can away from ordering a SLR B-30 Builders Kit last night. Let’s see if I have the strength to hold off tonight.

Not familiar with that setup, but I just looked it up and, am I right, that it's just a matched receiver set for $915??
No bolt, no barrel, no trigger, no stock, no furniture, etc?
Man that's steep when you can buy a POF or Sig 308 for not much more than that.

Radian is more than that but you do get a charging handle
The SLR that he’s looking at is the AR-10 platform also.

Yeah, the POF Rogue is about $1600 and the Sig 762 is about $1300.
I guess, though, if you want a boutique brand, then go for it. Ar10 is tricky though, be sure to get the same brand barrel and bolt. There are no standard specs on an ar10 like there is on a 556.

How do you like it?

I love it. It really is worth every penny

Anyone buy a side charging attachment?
Looks intriguing. One of my 762s has a side charger and I like it.
The kids have a 556 I put together and picked up a 22LR drop in for that I looked at these side chargers for them..

What's the best place to purchase one of these?

I’m not sure. I ordered mine 2 years ago online. Try gun dot deals to see if you can find one

Damn I’m jealous. I’ve been holding off ordering a Radian or SLR. Need to just bite the bullet

Yes. I don’t think you can tell the bullets apart if they are laying side by side.
You can USUALLY tell 5.56 factory loads apart from .223. Both 5.56 and .223 casings are annealed at the shoulder to relieve the stress they pick up in the forming process. The annealing process puts a discolored band where the casing was heated. Retail customers, for some reason, only want to shoot shiny bullets, so the .223 casings are tumbled after annealing to polish them up and make them pretty.
A milspec 5.56, on the other hand, doesn't get this tumbling process for two main reasons. First, you can instantly see if the casing was annealed because of the discoloration and know that it is safe to handle the pressures generated. Second, tumbling is an extra production step, adds nothing but cosmetics to a cartridge, and costs more money. The vast majority of ammunition made in 5.56 is milspec, and that vast majority is going to have that brown end because milspec bullets don't get tumbled.
