CMC single stage
just looked them up. what's up with the different pin sizes?
eta: nevermind
quote:
WHAT PIN SIZE SHOULD YOU USE?
LARGE PIN (.172 Ø) – Colt is the only AR brand to produce both small and large diameter pins in their triggers. Colt AR-15 rifles produced between 1991 and late 2009 commonly take a LARGE PIN.
SMALL PIN (.154 Ø) – If your AR rifle is NOT a Colt or your Colt was produced before 1991 or after 2009 it will take a SMALL PIN.
M&P 15-22 COMPOSITE PIN – The Smith & Wesson® M&P® 15-22 or any wider than standard receiver will use a SMALL PIN diameter but requires a longer pin length and will take an M&P 15-22 COMPOSITE PIN.
CMC Triggers offer all versions of their Drop-in AR Trigger in SMALL PIN, LARGE PIN, and M&P 15-22 COMPOSITE PIN. If you are still unsure of the pin diameter needed for your rifle you can take a measurement by pressing a pin far enough out of the receiver to measure its diameter, .172 Ø for LARGE and 154 Ø for SMALL.

What’s the consensus on an aftermarket trigger?
Note that these are not 3-gun/race/drop in triggers, but are standard combat grade.
Super budget - Schmid 2 stage Nickel finish ($65-$75)
High end budget - LaRue MBT2S ($90)
High end expensive - Geissele SSA-E ($160-$260, depending on if they're in sale or not)
...
Any of these will be monumentally better than a milspec or "even enhanced" mil spec single stage like BCM sells.
They're all 2 stage triggers, too.
If you just want a single stage, Hyperfire makes a good one for about $100, the enhanced duty sniper trigger.

RA-140 (Rise Armament) makes really good 3.5lb pull performance triggers with anti walk pins (its a drop in) for 110-140, depending on where and when you buy.
I've got these triggers in all my ARs

I have several Trigger Tech triggers.
Several in ARs and several in bolt gun.
I think they are the best out there.

Yes. Look for sales on them. They regularly go for $75-ish.

Help me decide on my first AR. I think I've narrowed it down to two, after 3 whole days of research.
LWRC IC-DI for $1359
PSA Sabre for $959

No IWI Zion 15?
There's also the classic Colt 6920.

I would search out for an older 6920 if going this route. The new ones aren't worth $1300.

I appreciate your feedback.
Would you consider either of those over the two I mentioned?

if you want an FDE option, PSA has mentioned that the Sabre line will be in FDE in the next week or two if you wanted to wait. they've already got the stripped billet lower/upper up on the site, but it's currently sold out.

i'm probably going to wait for these to drop to see what the options are. probably the same, but just want to be sure.

Get the LWRC. The resale value (I know, you probably won't sell it) on those is infinitely higher than the PSA will be, plus the ambi lower is easily one of the best on the market.
A certain 3 letter agency used to supply their operatives with LWRC rifles. There's a reason for that.

LWRC, no way I'm spending that much on a PSA rifle.

I'm done with PSA. I ordered an upper once from them; it was supposed to come with adjustable gas block. I shot it for the first time and it was undergassed. Bolt would only lock around 3/4 the way back and was short stroking.
I went to adjust the gas block and it had a non adjustable on there. Those bastards don't know what they're selling/QCing half the damn time.
There's probably many a knucklehead out there with the same upper that has no idea what to look for or what the issue is and that it doesn't have an adjustable gas block.
Posted on 3/7/23 at 3:53 pm to El Segundo Guy
did you even call them?
Posted on 3/7/23 at 3:56 pm to finchmeister08
Yes. Their solution was to send the upper ALONG WITH MY LOWER as a warranty claim that would take 90 days.
Or ship me an adjustable gas block.
My point is that a reputable firearms builder/dealer should never have the issue.
