If a new rifle is happening regardless, why go through the trouble of rolling your own goofy thing when there's factory off the shelf rifles and ammo designed to do what you are trying to accomplish?

If I was hunting Nilgai tomorrow…. I’d take my .308 with 165gr partitions and call it a day. It really is less about the cartridge and more about bullet selection.

I own a 6.5prc and 7PRC. I’ve killed several deer with the 6.5 and just killed a 5x5 bull at 508 yards with the 7PRC 3 weeks ago. The 7PRC has slight more recoil than the 6.5prc but it’s not much. If I had to choose 1 of those 3, I’d go with the 7PRC and shoot the 180gr class bullets.

Keep in mind that I hand load so I’m getting all I can out of that round. Box ammunition is about 200-250fps slower than my hand loads. I’m seeing box ammo between 2650-2750 depending on barrel length. (22”-24”)

That’s outstanding.

My close friend shoots a 257 and he’s deadly w it. An antelope at 530yds

I’ll start to consider optics next. I like the Meopta.

I heard they were transitioning into electronics manufacturing or something like that. Seems they're getting harder to find.

Not sure exactly how to phrase this question, but is the weight of the rifle noticeable? Does it balance well?

That one has a heavier barrel profile than the standard lite and superlite, but has a lot of features I want. Haven’t been able to put my hands on one and hesitant to order it sight unseen.
