How much are you guys paying for Live Shrimp in your bait shops in LA or AL? My area is out of control?

I don't use them very often but when I grabbed some back in the summer I want to say they were $0.50/each.

I get a better deal up in Tampa Bay area but down in Sarasota, they are about $9 a dozen which is crazy to me. A lot of times they are very small.

We fished with some back in October on Grand Isle, .50 a piece.

Bay Pines bait shop $7 dozen for regular. $10 dollar for select or jumbo.
I never bought shrimp off the bait boats in TB. They will however, black your livewell out with threadfin or greenbacks for $20 and a six pack most days.
I got my 10’ cast net hung on my pants button and it drug me off the boat at the Skyway one morning. I was able to get free and back on the boat rather quickly. I wasn’t on that boat more than 5 seconds when a massive bull shark surfaced right where I had exited. Yep, happy to buy bait from the boys on the boats.

We buy them from a guy iin St Pete, $225 for 1000 shrimp when we go out.
I dont remember what ONeils charge but I dont think it was $7/dozen. Cant remember
I have been putting in at Centennial in Sarasota lately. I use Kingfish at AMI sometimes but the traffic has been a nightmare lately. Id rather just trailer over to Maximo Park than AMI.
I have had some experiences at the bridge throwing the net as well. Have not been over there in 4 weeks. Yikes.
Are you catching any big white bait over there? The last two times I was there , all I caught was small white bait

This is why I don't all we fish is artificial now. Haven't caught a limit besides one time in the last decade. But I'm also not paying 20$ a quart to feed hardheads!

Reminds me of a funny story, I was standing behind a guy at Grand Isle Marina over the summer.
*I need live shrimp
**How many?
*What's the trout limit here?
**15
*Give me 15.
**You probably won't catch 15 trout on 15 shrimp, you probably want some extras
*How much are they?
**50 cents each.
*Give me 17

Not at the moment. I was fishing Boca Ciega pretty hard on the flounder run in late December. The smaller baits were perfect size but now the grouper are under the docks and I am pinfish trapping for bigger baits.

Highest I've saw them was 50 cents, lowest was a dozen for $3. Most of the time they 3-$1.

I was having some good success cast netting pins on a flat just inside of Big Sarasota Pass for months. I just had a cleared out place on the edge of the flat in about 18' of water and I could chum for about 15 mins there and throw the net 5 times and have all I needed for inshore or offshore. I was using them on just a freeline up around the bushes for shook and reds. I typically use White bait but they have been harder to find this fall in Sarasota bay. The pins were workin great for the snook and you could cast them more aggressively. The last few weeks, they are gone.
ONce it warms up after this week I am going to come up to the mouth of the Manatee and fish some. I usually throw the net at the skyway or just buy a few scoops from the guy there outside of Oneills. I went near shore out of Sarasota about 10-15 miles a few times since the wind has been down and it has been amazing for mangs out there.
