Yep, they're doing an oyster reef restoration project in West Cove right now so it's temporarily closed. I'd imagine even once it opens it'll still be a bit muddy for a bit.

Yeah, I didn't know that either.

You know what part of west cove? I'm doing some work in that area

As in the launch is closed, I'm unsure if they're running out people that are coming into the Cove itself from other launch points. I believe Hog Island Gully Launch is still open.
From what I understand once complete harvesting oysters via dredging will not be allowed and will only be harvested by hand tongs. Hopefully this allows the reefs to flourish some.

You and me both. I haven't fished since 4th of July weekend.

Might be going look at a used feel free 11.5 in a few days. Any reviews from the OB?

I like those, but I have no experience with them.

Someone on here said Masseys quit selling them because they split and that they're made in Thailand. I think it might be in this thread somewhere.

That was me, but I'm not sure where in this thread it was posted. I went into the Covington location and asked them about them and they said "we don't sell them anymore. We were having issues with them splitting and found out they're not actually made in the USA. So our buyer stopped carrying them."

We fished PAC yesterday, man talk about a nice facility. Launching is as easy as it gets over there. We didn't do that well and only ended up with a few reds and pencil trouts. I don't think we went far enough into marsh and I was lacking weedless options for all the grass out there. I'll definitely be going back for a couple days when the house boat is available for rent.
ETA: what y'all know about joes cove? Good area/launch?

The landing at Joe Dugas SUCKS so be careful. Once you launch head south and you can fish the west bank of the cove for reds. There is a nice size reef that runs North and South in the middle of Joes. There is a popular wade spot on the north west corner as well.
