lol
I'm ready to rock this weekend. I don't know what I'll figure out on this first trip I haven't learned from y'all. But, thanks for the thread.
I'm going to get some running lights at some point, but I know I won't need them this weekend.

$45 plus $5 launch? That's a lot
I wouldn't think he would charge a launch fee on top of that but may be wrong. I don't think it's too bad of a price. I mean compared to what it costs him in fuel to make that run, it does sound like a lot. But he has dedicated his life to making a living off of a kayak marina...he has got to make money some how and I'm sure he can't do it just off of $5 kayak launches lol

I thought about the Mothership, but didn't realize it was that much.

Considering checking this out. I've never kayak fished big lake, this may be a way to learn a little about it.

Saw it on Facebook. Can you fish anywhere on Big Lake?
Posted on 9/13/17 at 9:36 am to LSUlefty
Yeah. Launch anywhere In calc or Cameron parish

Some questions:
Is West Cove open?
If so, when does it close for Fall/Winter?
When is the flounder run?

Do it, the LKFC tournaments are a good time, I try to make them all. You can fish any publicly accessible waters in Cameron or Calcasieu parish, slam format. Leopard red with the most spots wins a kayak.

Where's the best place for rookies to launch at big lake?
Posted on 9/13/17 at 9:47 am to Uncle JackD
I've only ever fished West Cove and Choupique Bayou and always have done OK. All the freshwater right now has the entire west side messed up, I'd love to fish there this weekend but will probably go east.

Same. I've only fished those 2. I feel like I should skip PAC or Cocodrie this weekend and head west. When does WC close for the season?

It looks like Big lake salinity is slowly creeping back up so hopefully it gets good soon.

1A and 1B(west of hwy) close Oct 15. The launch stays open year round for access to the lake, but the canal is closed for fishing beginning Oct 16 and is to be used for access only after that.

I might just go ahead and check out West Cove on Saturday. At least I can provide a report on how it looks.

If you do let me know how it goes, we will probably push our trip to Sunday but were leaning to go to Cocodrie.

Sunday the Saints play the Pats at noon. I can't miss it. I was leaning Cocodrie as well, but I do want to fish that tournament next month.

Making the decision to never spend one more second of my life on pro sports was possibly the most liberating and best decisions of my life.

I can't do it. I'm still a die hard Saints' fan. No matter how much they piss me off.
