That’s pretty impressive at 45 yards

Those nitro shells seem to do pretty well. They came in a truck that I bought used. I should have switched out my choke from duck season, but I was lazy.

There's about 750 pellets in that load lol

Edit. I Assumed he had the Nitro TSS. Nevertheless, it's still a damn good load out to 45 yards.

Somewhere there’s a turkey ready to respond every day. Just gotta find him.

I’ve worn out a lot of pairs of boots with this thought in the back of my head.

These Tennessee turkeys sure are a lot easier to kill than the Louisiana variety.

Two down on Saturday with a group of wounded vets.

Hoping to try for one next weekend. So far I have practiced my calls and they are successful at annoying the teenagers. I have threatened to wake them up with that if they don't get moving on school mornings.

It has been a quiet season for me so far. My in-laws land is in the county that historically produces the highest turkey harvest in SC. We opened April 3, and I have hunted 4 times.

Opening day - nothing, not even a gobble.

April 7 - saw two hens from across the field from where we see them a good bit on camera. Hunted that morning from sun up until about 10:30. No toms.

April 11 - nothing. FIL was hunting a creek bottom about 500 yards from me, and he saw a pair of jakes on the other side of the creek.

This morning - tried a new spot on a ridge/road that is heavily wooded on one side, and thinned with hardwoods on the other. We kill deer here pretty frequently, and I saw turkeys twice last fall during deer season. I had one rattling the trees behind me but down the hill. Never could get it close or even see it today.

I will try again Saturday, but they are calling for 90 degree temps here. May be my last go at it this season which is unfortunate.
