Another one just hit the dirt this evening. If you’re in central La I would go post up on a stand now.

Wonder if there’s any thrill left for TV hunters when killing bucks like that is routine each year

HB was part of the old Louisiana Delta Farms, which at one time was the largest row crop operation in the country. It does contain the largest WRP area in Louisiana and is intensively managed for waterfowl and whitetail.

It's around 20,000 acres and still has a lot of row cropping on it. I'm just happy someone bought it and decided to reinvest in wildlife.

Thanks for the clarification. I grew up super close to there but don't much about the specifics but I knew it was regulated for waterfowl, as is a lot of the area, makes sense they would do the same for deer. Yeh I'm glad it exists as well. I know its pretty well known for duck hunting which is cool.

My parent's neighbor killed a massive buck Saturday and I saw a guy in Olla killed a big buck a week or two ago. All I ever got was a couple does hunting that area.

So some rich kid kills a big buck on private land that’s probably high fence and I’m supposed to be impressed?

I’m not.

His dad literally made millions on camo, hunting shows, and being a nice guy. Things all of us do on a daily basis and WISH we could do for a living. Yet he's getting crushed on here for doing what makes his family money. Lol

Big, small, etc etc wouldn’t matter to me if it’s land someone else is managing and I just go sit and hunt it.

I will hunt other people property and take a doe, but I honestly would get zero enjoyment in taking a buck

Don’t fault those that do enjoy that though. Different strokes

Would love to know what they paid an acre in 05 for the original 30k acres. Delta property has absolutely skyrocketed since then. I wouldn't be surprised if they have doubled or tripled their value.

Yeh all that agricultural land over there/ hunting land is pretty high priced these days. Good investment I am sure is an understatement.

I’m sure he worked really hard to shoot that deer. Put in long hours hanging stands, scouting, etc....

I know of a grown man shoot an upper 150’s that was crawling out the field after his nephew (10 years old) shot it. He claimed and mounted that deer. That kid was still crying when I measured that deer a couple hours later. Oh yea, and they were even hunting on his nephew’s dad’s farm.

Am I reading this right? I would be beat my brother arse and that would be the last time he hunted my farm.

Pure guess, but in 05, probably 2000-2500 for a tract that size that had been extensively developed/improved.

05 was right on the front end of the first big corn boom in the Delta that sent most land to 3000/acre+.

Combine the value of ag land (assuming that there’s still tillable land on the place) and now what recreational property brings, no telling what the right person/group would pay for it today.

. I’d guess closer to 1000-1500 per ac. On a chunk that big, maybe less. Much of that area is not corn ground, some is wet till May on the reg (low gumbo shite). No doubt it’s increased in value though. Plus HB itself was already in WRP which would drive down the price if I am buying.

Surely this was a high fence hunt? Looks like someone took him out and hand picked that buck for him. Who the hell is this guy? What makes him so special? Hell man, I don't know why it still surprises me because over the years I've seen family members turn on one another, life long friends come to blows and people leverage their children's future college education all over an animal that road crews pick up dead off the side of the road every day. It's just kinda sad to see folks act the way they do over a kid killing a deer.

And they kill descent deer all the time and no one says a word. If he would have shot a 140in deer nothing said but since it’s a whopper everyone wants to point out how insignificant it is!! So is horns/score the telling scale?! Why are you worried now since it’s 180 but just kind of no big deal when it’s 135 they can shoot them all!?!!

Yeah, I gotcha. I’m not familiar with the place so I was kind of speaking out of turn, but wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Looking at a map now and it’s pretty obvious how shitty of land it was for growing anything... Growing up my dad was a farmer on a place in Mississippi that’s basically La Delta Light, so I’m familiar with how it all was designed and laid out after the Morrison’s bought it all.... And how unproductive some of it can be.
