What bird is this? Houston area

Googling it I think it might be a yellow crowned night heron but wasn’t sure. It hung out in my yard for quite a while

assuming you mean black crowned night heron, but that is not this bird...it is a yellow crowned night heron...the white "stripe" under the eye is the key to its id...
