Sportmix makes several different protein/fat combinations for different use dogs, and you can get it at Tractor Supply for less than $30/bag. I use High Energy during the hunting season and Maintenance the rest of the year.
I've used Diamond and Purina, but they made loose stools. Sportmix is the best I've found and all I will ever feed.
at anyone paying $50-60 on a bag of dog food.

After many years of trying and lots of trips to the vet, this is the only thing that doesn't cause my Terrier to get horrible ear stench,

10 year old lab that I feed whatever bag of food I see at the grocery store. Not paying a bunch of money for dog food when half of what he eats is the leftovers of whatever I am having.
Speaking of cheeseburgers, he can eat a whole mcdonalds cheeseburger and spit the pickle out.

I can pretty much guarantee that in the long run, all of the people you're laughing at spend less money on dog food than you do.
eta: not that it should really matter. My dog is my best friend. I'd basically do whatever I can reasonably afford that's good for her.

quote:I agree, but just saying that I think that's extremely high to be feeding a dog. I'm not on here to argue - feed that bitch filet minon if it makes you feel good.

I don't. Just an educated guess because of how much filler is in normal food.

We used to feed our Rott mixes Blue Buff, but few months ago switched to Costco's brand of healthy weight. It's highly rated & I can get two big bags for the price of one BB. The female, who is a finicky eater, loves it. Ol boy eat anything :)

Well ill have to confess.... Sarge is 13 years old and still gettin it. Trailed 3 deer and retrieved me about 25 Ducks this year. Has been fed Puppy Chow, Old Roy, and Table Scraps his whole life. Never been sick much of anything and still going strong. I do give him a CC of Ivomec twice a year to keep the worms off of him and shot of med's down his neck once a month when I remember for fleas and ticks. When we stop at the store I get him a hot dog wiener off the rollers for a treat after a hunt.

They're dogs. It really doesn't matter all that much. They lick their own arse, eat cow shite, play in the sewage ditch, etc.

Til you get one that has allergies and spend more on vet bills than it takes to feed quality food. A lot of this man made garbage is far far worse than cow shite.
