Nice! I priced out an 18 build with Erin a couple years back, but ended up going a different route with 3 little kids.

I've had repairs by him and the prices were way less then I expected each time. He works out of his house in Chalmette and is an expert on these motors.

If you don't mind going to Lafayette, Superior Boat Services. LINK If you place a deposit they will call you when they get an order in for your specific motor request. If you pay cash or check it's 3 or 4% less. They also sell and install electronics but I don't have any experience with them on that.

Ordering the trolling motor from Trolling Motors Unlimited and the helix 9 from Red River Marine.

Any reason you’re going with the helix over simrad and lowrance? I wish I had a simrad over my helix especially for marsh fishing.

Mostly for the side imaging and auto chart features. I’ve also grown a liking to the lake master card from using it on my buddies boat.
Why do you want to switch?

I like being able to make my own mapping cards with simrad and it seems nema networking is cheaper/fewer parts. I also prefer standard mappings chip over the lake master. Don’t get me wrong it does the trick for me, but when it is time to replace I will probably go back to simrad.

Heard that. It seems most people like the mapping of Lowrance/Simrad more so than humminbird. Mapping isn’t as important to me because I’ve used my phone to navigate around the marsh for about 3 years now. Anything will be a massive upgrade to that lol. I really just want the auto chart feature for find holes and changes in bottom structure.
You ever heard of the Florida marine tracks?

Yeah I’ve heard of them. It is my understanding that they are having a difficult time updating La cards compared to Florida. Do they make a chip for humminbird units?

Humminbird/Helix is having one hell of a time with chips. All trolling motors with I-Link are months out.

I had a boat ordered in September. Started construction in February and the boat just got done. Still no trolling motor. The dealer even ordered 2 (1 through Minnkota and 1 through boat builder). Neither one have come in. Pretty much all of them are going to builders and not dealers and they are still months behind.

A backorder was supposed to be shipped last week and didn't, so it's not corrected yet.
