There is nothing, that ain't 'Science'
There are plenty of things that aren't science.
Common sense.
Religion.
Art.
All of those are not science.

As one who worships Nature and Beauty, (as Divine 'art'), my point is this: given the current technological/societal dynamic, imposing draconian economic restrictions on PRODUCTIVE Nations...and sending that money to Third World Nations (dictators, despots, tyrants, yahoos, etc.) WILL NOT change the profound momentum of inevitable environmental change.
I really don't get what the 3rd world nations have to do with anything.
quote:
What MAY, will be the extraordinary high tech being developed and enabled by PRODUCTIVE and vibrant economic engines, that can help us deal with that change. Kill those engines, by saddling human productivity and motivation with Marxist ideology... and we kill the hope for solutions.
Most of these ominous weather predictions are long term; do they/you totally factor out any (natural) effects such as a real and high probability of major seismic influence? Asteroids? Biological population affects like super bacteria/viruses? World War III?
IMV, most Greens are single-mindedly focused, and they have been co-opted by Marxist Ideologues, which in the long term will be HARMFUL to Environmental causes.
This environmental ship has sailed. The best hope we have to alter the Environment forward toward a recovery (outside of a major and calamitous population reduction/effect), is to focus on a vibrant economy which enables the development of high tech solutions.
gmb?

Sure, if you ignore the entire northern half of the planet. I guess your understanding of the term "global" is that it only includes the southern hemisphere?
You know sea ice formation doesn't actually lower sea level, right? (Nor does it raise it when it melts) Just checking.

Given that temperatures rose dramatically beginning in the early 70's and going until the late 90's - its basically a mathematical impossibility for the 4th warmest global temperature of any month since 1979 to not be the 4th warmest since 1880. Of course the record going back to 1880 is only surface measurements so there will be slight differences, so when the surface temp measurements come out maybe it will be a 3 or 5 but it will be close to 4.
We will know the answer shortly though, and I will be right here to say itoddaso.

Of there, there is absolutely no doubt. At all.

that's right. a zerlo.
i like to think of it as a collection of zeros. Example: "The Politards are a zerlo"

And by the time you tweak your instruments, look at all the numbers, and tell us it will likely be #1 because that's what you want it to be.

If that's the pre-conceived conclusion you have in your head then there's not really much point in debating you - you will obviously reach the same conclusion regardless of the evidence presented. If the evidence is against AGW - then you will accept it as truth - if it is for AGW then you will declare it to be falsified by conspiracy.
no point really.

For you, maybe not, ST.
For me...'Science' would be the examination and description of the interactive workings of all manifest in the Empirical Universe. Un-manifest and Subjective (Quantum) too.
You think that Common Sense, Religion and Art...are NOT functional - and quite pertinent/effectual - aspects/interactions of humanity?
Whatever.

I didn't say they weren't functional. I said they aren't science.
Common sense, for instances, relies exclusively on intuition - and science has often shown it to be wrong.

Empirical evidence does suggest that gun control laws full of loopholes are kinda useless, yes.

There's really nothing to debate.
No one can prove they can predict what the climate is going to be a century from now, and if they could there's nothing we can do to change what it's going to become.
Now we can adapt to the changes as best we can, but isn't that what man has always done?
