Of course they’re coming for their political opponents first! Just like Trump gets treated differently than any other former president with the raid on MaraLago! All former Presidents take classified stuff with them and then work with National Archives. They just use that statute as an excuse to do a search ie fishing experiment on his home! Disgraceful! Does anyone think the new IRS agents will be kind to rank and file Working class or small business owners all the peons making less than 400k and missing Trump better watch out! They’re coming locked and loaded!

I hate the IRS and taxes as much as the next guy, but this has been way over blown. You guys really think they’re arming the IRS to come after people like their cops? The IRS is full of a bunch of liberal loons, who probably don’t even know how to use a gun, more than to just protect themselves. They don’t have the ability to tactically engage in a firefight with anyone.
Y’all need to cut the shite with all this BS. It’s tiresome.

Current staffing at the IRS is 78,000. Around 50% of the staff, which includes everything from, auditors, to IT to phone reps, is expected to retire of the next 5 years. So they are expecting to net around 25-30000 total employees of the next ten years which would bring their staffing to levels we seen in previous years.
You don’t need to increase the budget to replace retired workers. The $87 billion is on top of the annual budget, do the math and they’re about doubling the size of the IRS.

OK, I'm opposed to the administration. And I use a CPA for my taxes. What in the hell more will they get from me. I live in the 20% marginal tax rate bracket. Now if I was a small businessman I'd be more concerned. They will dig into those books. But what are they gonna do? Isn't it back taxes and interest?
A major cost is simply having to deal with the IRS. Being audited costs thousands of dollars and a shitload of time/stress whether you’ve reported accurately or not.
A small business can prove that it has reported everything perfectly as per the tax code, and it could still cost the owner a few tens of thousands of dollars and a year of unproductive hell.

Part of the great reset is owning nothing, maybe this is part of that. I've been wondering about the people that already own homes contradicting that first statement.

This is the federal law enforcement organization that Obama envisioned.

Will someone please post the job description of for the IRS enforcement agents our govt recently posted?
Listen really carefully so you can understand. The key word is ENFORCEMENT. When the IRS says you owe them money in unpaid taxes, and you don’t pay, these are the agents responsible for seizing assets. That means your car, your house, your business and anything else of value. You don’t dramatically increase the number of enforcement agents unless you anticipate a dramatic increase in the number of people owing unpaid taxes. The only way to anticipate those numbers rising is by preparing to dramatically increase audits.
And yes, IRS enforcement agents are armed and prepared to use deadly for per the job description..

Those Agents will not be coming to homes and engaging in potentially hot confrontations; targeted individuals will be summoned to come to a secured office with pertinent information. If or when liability is assessed, proper digital measures (freezing of bank accounts, SSI/Medicare, driver's licenses, warrants, liens, access to Government services, etc.) will be undertaken.

This administration is preparing to audit the frick out of Americans, and if history is any indication they’ll start with those politically opposed to them.
I hate that they are increasing their numbers.
It’s a terrible political move by Democrats for which they are already receiving backlash from voters in their own party.
That said, the IRS like most agencies has always had a division within the agency with armed special agents.
They certainly are not arming 87k new hires.

They shouldn't be hiring any.
Audits should be like what the Left USED TO say about abortions: safe, legal AND RARE.

87,000 new IRS agents. How scary is that?
87,000 new IRS agents hired over a period of 15% or 13,050 new agents a year over a period of seven or eight years for a population of 330 million? It seems Trumpers can't read anything past a headline, then write their own narrative as to the headlines relevance, which inevitably includes the scary Democrats. Why do trumpublicans go out of their way to scare their own pants off???
Bottom line? It's out of context conspiracy theories like this propagated by fanatical trumpers and their overlords who count on their base's inability, or refusal by willful ignorance, to look beyond a sensational headline, and just accept the narrative put forth by conspiracy theorists.
One of the reasons I don't engage here on a personal basis? How can one possibly engage when the opposing party, by willful ignorance, chooses to engage in a conversation using Trump mouthpiece Kellyanne Conway's "alternative facts"? Remember those?
I will close by repeating an earlier question. Why do trumpublicans go so far out of their way to scare their own pants off? Because Donald j Trump is nothing but a scam artist, and his base are the perfect suckers for his scam. Go ahead, send your savior another donation for his vortex of stupidity or as he calls it, his wall, which, being ill informed, not one penny of those donations went toward the construction of his wall, nor did one penny find its way into any Republican politicians campaigns. It went directly into his personal account. Tried doing the due diligence. It won't hurt but just for a little while. History will not remember Trump and his base kindly, and more likely than not, your grandchildren will hate you for what you've done to America.????

Two points to your (obviously biased) analysis. First: I don’t think a lot of “fanatical Trumpers “ are “scared”. More like pissed off approaching the point of violence. Second: You are right re “engaging “ in a dialogue with people whose CHOSEN perceptive paradigm is polar to that of their opposition. Thomas Sowell eloquently addressed this in his “First Principles “ essay. Morning coward to a scenario where all get back on the same cognitive page. Assuming your intentions are good. Good luck.

If you haven’t done anything wrong you don’t have anything to worry about, right? Isn’t that what I hear you peolpe say when cops pull over minorities?

How will the addition of 87,000 new agents affect the agent-to-taxpayer ratio? How much higher will it be compared to the current ratio (after adjustments for old agents being retired)? How many total agents are there now?

It won't be union peeps. It'll be people claiming home office deductions and charitable deductions. If you gave to your church, expect an audit.
With JB’s statement calling the SBC one of the top 3 enemies of America, I fully expect this to happen. They’ll take away tithe deductions on taxes and try and financially hit the church as well as us individually.
