If no candidate gets 50% + 1 vote there is a runoff between the top two candidates.

So it seems like we're due for a run-off between Broome and Watson?

Vote Watson.

Piazza is a RINO and Carter can't win.

Watsons alleged dirt is much worse than strippers and coke

Watson’s unknown baggage/dirt are too great I fear. With Carter you know what you are getting and he can absolutely beat Broome. Just my .02

Steve Carter is the best of the bunch IMO. I think Broome wins again though.

I have no idea why people keep saying this. He got in at the last minute and has done very little to engage the electorate. My neighbor swears he has the liberal LSU employees under control with no basis for the opinion.

I saw Piazza on Saturday having lunch at Dearman’s with Woody Jenkins. For Jenkins to back a lifelong Democrat speaks volumes to both their agendas.

I’m voting Watson because he has demonstrated the necessary drive and determination to do the job.

Carter is polling the highest, has the most money, and the best endorsements among the Republicans. Theres confidence he can beat Broome in the runoff, just cant have the Republican candidates split it the vote up too much

I swung over to Carter from Watson.
I kept waiting for Watson to show some fire and leadership, and I’m still waiting. Meanwhile Carter has shown me something.

If anyone can listen to this guy for more than 30 seconds and not see he is a snake then they have no business voting...for anything. It’s so obvious he’s full of shite.

The last poll I saw had Carter with a slight edge over Watson.

That is surprising to me, as someone who hasn't followed too closely at all.

Two months ago I was debating Watson or Wicker. After the debates, Watson really turned me off. He had no real ideas other than criticizing SWB. I’m now leaning towards Carter because Watson was so negative.

A Carter vs. Broome run-off would suck.

Link? I've never heard him say he would want to raise taxes as mayor.

LINK

There’s a start. If he’s willing to put a measure up to raise taxes statewide what makes you think he won’t do it in Baton Rouge.

I’m pretty sure it was said during this debate
I don't think I want to watch an hour and sixteen minute video just to confirm "pretty sure."

But thanks!

So what? Do you know he had surgery earlier this year (knee replacement) and waited to see how his health was doing before qualifying for the race? When his surgeon told him he was good to go, Steve decided to run.

It's not like he woke up one morning on the last day of qualifying and decided to run for mayor.

Because those are two different issues completely.

If you can't differentiate between the statewide issues and local issues then maybe you shouldn't vote at all...

I said he was for raising taxes (and I provided a link) which means he is for raising taxes - statewide vs local - who cares - he’s for raising taxes. If you don’t understand that, than maybe you shouldn’t question people for not voting for Steve Carter.

It’s like saying Pro-life in Baton Rouge but then pro-choice in Shreveport. At the end of the day you are for abortion!

According to Piazza, Carter had told everyone who asked that he wasn’t going to run. Piazza got into the race with the backing of several donors who would have supported Carter. Carter then jumps in at the last minute after telling everyone he wasn’t running and now the money people are split on who to bankroll. None of the money types like Watson for some reason, which could be good or bad.

Piazza had already secured the endorsement of the RPEC the previous day, so Woody was following up with the endorsed candidates to discuss strategy. The PEC is headed by Woody, but has like 16 members. Woody had been planning on voting for Carter before the PEC meeting. Carter rubbed a bunch of PEC voters the wrong way, the dumb rumors about Watson’s personal life made the old folks squeemish, and Piazza talks well, so the majority voted to endorse Piazza.

Carter vs Broome is just Wicker vs Broome in white face. Wicker will be making the decisions. Carter is bringing the money. The mask mandates stay and the city keeps dying, only under slightly more competent leadership.
