What is the point of this pointless attack on a poster? You accuse everyone of being a liar and spreading slander while you go out and throw a completely baseless accusation like that? What about local politics gets you so worked up? You’re not like this when discussing anything else, but on St. George and EBR Mayoral race’s you’re just going after everyone. Every poster is some kind of vicious operative out to besmirch your good name and your cause, but only when posting about EBR specific politics. Get a grip, man.

He wants to combine the BRPD with the sheriff's department. Basically, he wants to do away with BRPD and transfer those funds to the sheriff's department. He knows there is too much duplication of management (and salaries) and he believes we can do better with an elected sheriff policing the entire parish while doing away with the police union that controls the BRPD.

So I'm assuming he only wants one term if elected? Absolutely no way he gets that through.

Well, you didn’t say that in your post.

It’s going to be a hard sell from a white guy.

And it would be future millages. The city couldn’t technically go into what’s already saved up. If he tries to sell it as putting more money towards law enforcement - then it’s not going to fly.

No reason to be rude - plenty of people don’t understand that you cannot just take money from one government entity and put it towards another. Tons of people think that when the millages are on the ballots to be renewed they’re going to have to pay more - even though the ballots clearly state ‘renewal’ and nothing about an increase is mentioned.

I’m afraid you’re right. Combining those bureaucracies make entirely too much common sense.

I’ll support him even if all he does is give the effort.

More power to you. Being a member/former member of the LA Legislature is a disqualifier for me if there are other Republicans on the ticket.

I know both Steve and Matt personally, both would be huge improvements over the current moron, but I truly believe Matt is the only one that can beat her in a runoff. Steve is not going to excite people, just like Bodie didn’t, and low turnout favors the party offering bus rides and dinners to voters. Broomhilda is as dirty as they come, Piazza is a plant from her side to help split the white vote, and her dirty tactics to eliminate Tara made sure she could corner all the minority vote. Matt has spent a lot of time in the 70805 working the waste tire issue, and is much better known than Steve to the average EBR voter. I really wish Steve wouldn’t have run, but then again, I wanted him over Foil to replace Claitor as my Senator.

Yeah. Not sure why.

When I clicked on submit I got the TD STOP sign page. So I went back a page and clicked on “Return to Board.” When I clicked on the thread I saw the multiple posts.

The Russians are trying to hijack the EBR mayor election. Piazza is Putin’s puppet! Watson’s coke dealer is Ukrainian! Carter once bought Turkish Delight candies for his wife! It’s all a conspiracy to bring acquisitions after acquisitions! The murder rate is Russian propoganda!

He did vote for Obama, Edwards (the first time), and Broome but not Hillary. Piazza claims he voted for Trump and Trump inspired him to switch parties, basically. Granted, Piazza is like 32 and works in the service industry. Not a lot of 20-something conservative folks working in bars and restaurants.

You killed it in this thread. You confirmed a lot of the theories I have held on voter turn out, voter enthusiasm, and the perfect storm that Broome benefited from in 2016.

This local race is critical. Keep the insight coming, I hope your assessments are correct.
