Clearly crony capitalism, but after the government spent all that money to make Tesla profitable I can see the logic in supporting a competitor too.

It's a shame our markets are this manipulated to support the rich

Its a concerted effort against Elon because he supported Trump. Newsome is passing a $7500 tax credit on all evs except tesla. Why Elon still has any business presence in California bottles the mind. Tesla is half of ev sales in Ca so just move and let them have at it

Them being half the market is exactly why California didn't feel the need to subsidize them.... They dominate the market and have benefitted enormously from government subsidies to grow Tesla.

Our "too big to fail" corporations are damn near socialized now.

They really have the best of both worlds. Profits are private but losses are socialized.

So justifying more crony capitalism with crony capitalism. Seems... like a recipe for more crony capitalism.

Not justifying it just saying I see why they'd resort to the same logic

If O&G companies aren’t paying 98% taxes, the left accuses the right of corporate welfare, as the left literally cuts direct checks for billions to green energy companies.

There’s a big difference between a loan that was paid early with full interest, and massive cash gifts AFTER you’ve mandated their products, marginalized their main competitor, and funded their charging infrastructure. It’s almost as bad as trying to force the entire country to guzzle Pfizer’s mystery juice on the taxpayers nickel then telling us we have zero legal recourse when junior dies of a heart attack.

They’ll still be losing $30k per unit until they get volume up. Hopefully this plant will help.
