Christians believe the beginning of life (or at least the reboot) started in the mountains of Turkey. Sloths, kangaroos, koalas, rattlesnakes, polar bears, lions, walruses, grasshoppers, penguins, etc., all trotted off a wooden boat built by a 500-year-old man and his family about 4,500 years ago and scattered around the world
You think the world came to be from nothing by random chance, and you ignore all the evidence around you that Yahweh created it all! How did sloths and kangaroos get to their modern homes? Magic! Duh
quote:
survived being submerged by thousands of feet of saltwater to live on to modern times.
God protected them somehow. Just like god created new trees and grass and plants and animals for all the meat-eating animals to eat after the flood. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence! Just cause the Bible didn’t say he didn’t doesn’t mean he didn’t do it!
quote:
And dinosaurs fit in there, I dunno, somewhere.
My bud FooLaneCraig set me straight. He taught me that at least a pair of each created “kind” went on the ark. Tyrannosaurs, stegosaurs, triceratops, ankylosaurus, Diplodocus, Brontosaurus, Ornithomimus, Pteranodon, etc were all on the ark. I’m still unclear if any of the dinosaurs were “clean” meaning there’d be seven pairs of those kinds instead of just one pair. You know how Yahweh loves the smell of burning flesh!
quote:
As for the actual origins of life, the fossil record shows a clear evolution from unicellular life to multicellular life. Plenty is still unknown - and heck, maybe always will be. But it is obvious that species lived in different time periods and that death existed for a hell of a long time before Man evolved to supposedly frick things up and create a "fallen world" that got God off the hook for things like birth defects and infant mortality.
You don’t understand. Evolution is true - I’ll give you that. But there are limits. God created each kind you see. Like the cat kind. Then hyper-evolution in the last couple thousand years evolved into house cats, pumas, leopards, lions, and tigers. Cats though definitely don’t share a common ancestor with dogs though. And if people came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys????
quote:
Without the Garden of Eden myth, which is clearly bullshite just like Noah's Ark, the Christian religion doesn't even make sense from a theological standpoint.
You are deluded and deny biblical truth. You hate god. You mad bro? Moses really wrote Genesis first and the Babylonians copied it! And then the devil made it look like the Babylonian copy was much older!
quote:
But if the assassin had put a bullet right between his eyes, I doubt anyone here would be blaming God for it.
You are so right. God only does good stuff, because he’s all loving and all good. He can’t be blamed for anything bad. Don’t you go reading Isaiah 45:7, trust me.
quote:
and He never has to show up in any perceptible form.
Just look around. Look at a beautiful sunset and tell me that right there doesn’t prove god exists, that only one true god exists, that his name is Yahweh, and he is the one god of the Bible of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

God didn’t spare Donald Trump at the expense of an innocent husband and father. That’s fricking low iq ridiculous logic. It’s retarded.
He doesn't understand these things so why jump on him? And IMHO, he's right, I don't think God would change the direction of a bullet and thus Himself have a hand in another man being killed if he were a Christian, and ready to go be with the Lord...BUT
There were 8 shots fired, why allow Trump to even get hit? MAYBE because if he didn't get hit someone else would die. Or maybe the man who got killed was ready to go be with the Lord and God knew his heart, in that he would sacrifice his life for the good of his nation, and the real President. And going to be with the Lord is a good thing, not a bad thing. God will take care of his family. We Christians were told by Jesus to HATE this world, any man who loves this world has not the love of God in him. Love the people hate this evil world system run by Satan.
So, any of the 8 bullets might have killed that man. Not just the one that nicked Trump. By the way, NO MAN is innocent, we are all sinners before God. That is WRONG THINK.

If you stand at the target end of the range about 20-30 yards out of the line of fire and watch the target not the gun you will quickly realize that if someone is a good shooter you won’t hear anything but a buzz before the darkness if you were the intended target. It has to pass you before you hear it break the sound barrier.

Which one? Luke - the story is 100% a parable. Lazarus is a beggar without any family with sores all over his body. He dies and ends up with Abraham in paradise and Abraham won’t let Lazarus give any water to the rich man in Hades who was burning in torment. John - the story is told like it is historical. Lazarus dies and is put in a tomb for 4 days. He never meets Abraham, but his family convinces Jesus to resurrect him from the dead. I would think that if Luke would have known of something like Lazarus being risen from the dead by Jesus, he would have inserted it into his own narrative.
You’re right, I’m sorry. I meant from the book of John. I do need to double check, but wasn’t Jesus’s plan all along to not get there in time so he could preform a miracle? Not e convinced by the family?

Yahweh had no problem killing people to make a point or just for fun. He delights in punishing one person by killing others. Look Aaron made a golden calf and Yahweh made the Levites slaughter a bunch of Israelites and then he killed more in a plague as punishment. Nothing happened to Aaron. Look at David and Bathsheba’s baby son. Yahweh let that baby suffer for 7 days, and on the eighth day killed the baby to punish David for adultery and murder.
I think you may have misunderstood that part of my post, or you’re agreeing with me. I’m not sure.

I'm a big believer in possibilities.
If he wanted to fool us, I am confident in his ability to do so.
But then again, he may be dense enough to trust Bidens SS with his life and allow them to allow a shooter that close to taking his life.

Pretty messed up that God decided to absolutely traumatize his family who had to watch his brain explode in front of them.

Hey, he’s God. That means everything he does is perfect and good. You have no justification or objective moral standard to criticize or question God’s motives and methods.

1. How does this not prove the world is flat, if from a high vantage point he could see all the kingdoms including the precursors to the Incas and Aztecs and the Chinese?
2. Surely the Devil knew that he was taking “God the Son” onto the mountain, and surely he knew Jesus had helped create the universe and was the most high. Why did the Devil even think he could tempt Jesus? It doesn’t make sense.

We Christians were told by Jesus to HATE this world
I can’t find this in the modern Christian canon of scripture. Sounds kind of Gnostic if you ask me. Can you quote a scriptural reference to support your allegation?
quote:
Love the people hate this evil world
I think you have it backwards. Jesus said to hate people including your entire family in order to follow him.
quote:
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. -Luke 14:26
All your “evil world” comments remind me of Gnostic teachings of the non-canonical gospels found in Egypt.
quote:

What I don’t get it why did God, who is all-knowing and all-powerful and perfect and good appoint an evil (lesser) deity and his demons to rule the world.

In John, yes it seems Jesus was planning to let Lazarus die just so that he could resurrect him from the dead to convince his disciples to believe in him.
It’s important to understand the writer of John is flat out rebuking the writer of Luke. In Luke, in the story of Lazarus, god rewards Lazarus in the afterlife for being a poor sickly beggar during his life. Jesus isn’t even in this story. It is Abraham who tells the rich man that if the rich man’s brothers don’t believe just from the writings of Moses and the prophets, that not even witnessing someone rise from the dead would convince them. The writer of John thinks that it ridiculous. Obviously seeing someone rise from the dead would convince people of some biblical truth. Hell, if it saw someone rise from the dead after being dead for 4 days rotting in a tomb, I would be a believer (and I’m an atheist)! The writer of John then writes a story to rebuke the story from Luke. Don’t take my word for it though, read both stories for yourself. It’ll only take 5 minutes.
One more thing. In the original story (the one in Luke) where God rewards Lazarus in the afterlife… think about Lazarus’ name. It is the Greek version of Eleazar. In Hebrew it means “El has helped” or “God has helped”. So “Luke” writes a parable of a guy helped by God in the afterlife and says the guy’s name is “God has helped”. It was a totally made up non historical story that “John” didn’t like so he used the same name of a character in a historical sounding story of a guy who never really existed to overwrite Luke’s version.

The expanding Universe is evidenced by things such as redshifting and microwave background radiation. It's not a creation myth made up by people who lived thousands of years ago.
quote:
How do you know he didn’t appear, but just decided to not appear to your azs.
If God were to perform an epic miracle comparable to what we have all read about in the Bible (let's say burning Las Vegas with fire and brimstone), essentially the entire civilized world would know about it within an hour. And not only would everyone know about it, we could all see footage of it.
But the actual so-called burning of Sodom and Gomorrah? Word of an event like that in ancient times would have taken days, weeks, months, years to reach distant ears. A bunch of hearsay circulating around with no evidence, no organized and advanced means of investigation.
It's not a coincidence that these grand miracles don't happen anymore when the entire world can turn its eyes and ears to virtually any point on the globe instantly and critically evaluate evidence.
Nowadays we're supposed to be impressed that God may or may not have caused a bullet to swerve half an inch instead of witnessing the Sun to stop in the sky or some other such shite.
quote:
You, after all think an explosion happened
This is clear based on evidence.
quote:
you have no idea what caused the explosion
We may find all the answers to the Universe one day - and maybe not. I would even say probably not. We have our limitations like every species. After all, a bunch of cows standing out in a pasture during a rainstorm will never understand why they're getting wet. They do not have the capacity to understand rainfall. However, the inability of cows to understand rain does not make it a supernatural phenomenon.
One thing I do know is that man has credited deities, demons, etc., for everything from storms to diseases for thousands of years. God has been a placeholder for the mystery du jour. And science has demonstrated over and over and over again how utterly ignorant and short-sighted this approach is and that it is better to defer to future findings than to start making things up about deities to explain A, B, or C.
